It wasn't until I witnessed the atrocities of a polluted environment of just 1 community... let alone the rest. Weibo's War is the movie to see. Some may not be familiar with it but after personally working in the area and seeing what the "Oil" has done, really made me think about what I helped do. Sure we have to get the product to market, but please do it safely. The pipeline WILL leak one day. It just will. How many leaks in Alberta's cesspool have gone undetected? Many things are swept under the table or wink, wink't. Well water from my farm in Alberta had slight traces of H2S...15 years ago. Oil industry has more power than government. Some will argue this but look at events and figures. This province is a precious place and for us not to undertake our own due diligence is disturbing. Sure there has been 5 yrs of hearings and processes but to whine at a truly unbiased look into the process amazes me. Why don't they run a pipeline through Ottawa? lol. In today's world, money buys morals and ethics for most. Sure the pipeline will create jobs for a couple years and the economy will appear okay, but what happens when the party is over? When Trudeau is gone and we have no more money to spend? When the pipeline leaks? Trudeau is trying to stay on his pedestal right now by creating jobs at any cost while spending massive amounts of our tax dollars. Anyone can look good spending money we don't have to create jobs. Is he going to help out and donate his "family wealth" to Canada's cause? Let Horgan run his path. Pipeline will go through but as a BC population, lets put in our guidelines to keep us safe. Alberta already pooched themselves environmentally. 2015, the "Oil" gave the Alberta government the ultimatum. And she ultimately obeyed. You just can't fight the oil Industry.
Many will challenge this post but I was in the middle of it for 25 years.
just sayin...

I find it rather hilarious that 2 NDP Provincial governments battling each other.

I find it hilarious that the Lib/Cons always toe the party line, no matter how bad it is for Canadians.

Why? What's selfish about wanting to protect one's environment AND economy? Notley's trying (unsuccessfully, btw) to cripple B.C.'s economy for no reason except her aspirations to hang onto her Premiership. The NDP should kick her out of the party. She is acting like the worst kind of Con.

Since you need it spelled out for you, it's selfish because you have a track record of displaying a NIMBY attitude.

You use all sorts of products made by means of oil, your keyboard for example, no doubt also avail yourself of Canadian benefits, that are partly funded by oil taxes, yet suddenly have an issue with oil when it needs to be transported through the province you reside in. Transported by the way in the safest method available one might add.

In the Site C thread you also wave the environmental friendliness flag, due to which you are a proponent of solar/wind power, claiming they are green, when in fact evidence shows their manufacture is anything but, yet you aren't concerned because most of those items are manufactured in China.

That is the ultimate example of NIMBY syndrome, hence selfish. You think your little corner of the globe, is any more precious, than that of another human being, who just happens to reside on the other side of said globe? We all share the planet.

and I find it hilarious that a tiny minority of Canadians are so delusional that they think whatever is bad for Canada is actually extremely good for Canada. That's the part that just makes me laugh uproariously, just how clued out this tiny number of really silly people are, that hate pipelines for absolutely no reason at all. So delusional.

Maybe the pipeline lovers should get a free ticket to China.

Timed to arrive when air pollution is at its worst and

Try to pretend that natural gas etc. will solve the problem.

Stay a couple months and see how your lungs like it.

Reality.

It would solve China's problem. Completely. Is there a reason you would think otherwise?

Stay a couple months and see how your lungs like it.

Reality - pipelines have nothing to do with China's air quality issues. Reality - people who oppose pipelines are ill-informed nincompoops.

Oh sure...replace coal with natural gas!

Ever wonder why natural gas did not catch on with vehicles here?

Well of course it's the Conservatives fault. There isn't any soul searching necessary within the NDP.

Absolutely no room for improvement there that one could identify. I mean they're great at math, they never repeat the same mistakes twice, they enter an election with a well thought out platform, and their word is always good.

Okay, I'll reply to each of your points, one at a time:
1) If British Columbians don't defend B.C., who's going to?

2) The safest method available is not good enough. Nobody's cleaned up the bunker oil spill in English Bay yet and it's been almost two years. Nobody's successfully cleaned up those two diesel spills, one in the Broughton archipelago, and the other in Hartley Bay last year. And speaking of Hartley Bay, the Queen of the North that sank there over a decade ago is still leaking fuel.

3) Site C is the biggest boondoggle in B.C.'s history. Let's not go there.

4) Yes, we all share the planet, and unless we all get together and try to combat climate change we won't have a planet to share much longer. Of course you dreamers can always wait for Elon Musk to save you with his bizarre idea of colonizing another planet.

And yet all the math says that it isn't a "boondoggle" at all. In fact it seems the only people calling it a "boondoggle" are massive liars who can't supply any information whatsover to support their position. Which is why the majority of British Columbians support Site C. Because they aren't morons, they aren't mentally I'll, and they can do math.

4) Yes, we all share the planet, and unless we all get together and try to combat climate change we won't have a planet to share much longer.

This seems like alarmist nonsense. Really stupid alarmist nonsense.

Of course you dreamers can always wait for Elon Musk to save you with his bizarre idea of colonizing another planet.

I'd just prefer that he stop suckling from the government teat. Save those tax dollars for something else more worthwhile.

Natural Gas didn't catch on with vehicles because you can't compress it like propane, so as a result you need either a massive tank to get anywhere, or you need a filling station every 100 km. It just wasn't practical. LPG died on the vine because the US didn't embrace it and you couldn't travel Stateside without having dual fuel, and if you were tuned to LPG then you ran like crap on gas, and if you were tuned for gas you ran horrible on LPG. Unfortunately, the majority rules on this, and the majority that we have to live by is south of us.

For those still suggesting he's doing this for B.C.:
Horgan and his crew also have to ask themselves what happens if they win this fight against the pipeline.

For one thing, they’d lose much of $1.5 billion in federal funding that was to be spent on marine safety.

They would forgo up to $1 billion from Kinder Morgan to enhance the environment. That was part of the agreement ex-premier Christy Clark signed with Kinder Morgan.

It was a great deal for B.C., but also an ominous sign that a province could impose what amounted to a toll on a pipeline under federal jurisdiction — and get away with it.

Through all this, opinion polls have consistently shown that a majority of British Columbians favour this project that has cleared every regulatory hurdle and won cabinet approval.

It's not for us. It's to keep Weaver onside, so Horgan can get what he wants.
