Yup.That's the next target resource industry in Canada.....Metallurgical coal cuz it makes steel for war machines that burn fossil fuels.
Next we will all have to eat quinoa and soy beans to be acceptable citizens. Oh wait, we can't, it takes fossil fuels to get those foodstuffs to BC.

5 Months without oil.

This video is about a world wide end to oil. It's easy to extrapolate it down to a BC only shortage.

From Castanet:

Social media posts suggest anti-pipeline activists are determined to continue blockades at two terminals in Burnaby as they cause more irreparable harm to the Trans Mountain project, says a lawyer seeking a permanent injunction against the protests.

Maureen Killoran told B.C. Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Affleck on Wednesday that activists have conspired to recently intensify blockades with the aim to disrupt construction projects at the Burnaby Mountain and Westbridge Marine terminals before a mid-March deadline to meet environmental standards.

Affleck granted a temporary injunction on Friday, saying it would expire Wednesday and restrict protesters from coming within 50 metres of the facilities where protests began last November.

Killoran said Trans Mountain has the permits and leases required to carry on construction but protesters have put their own safety at risk because they often show up at 5 a.m. on icy roads to block vehicles.

"It is undisputed that Trans Mountain has incurred substantial costs," she said, adding the protesters' goal has been to cause so much financial harm through delays that the company is forced to abandon the $7.4-billion project that would twin an existing pipeline from Edmonton to Burnaby.

"We have every indication based on the activities of the blockaders, based on what they're saying on Facebook and other social media sites and to the media, that this will continue," she said. "They have made a conscious choice to carry on."
Trans Mountain, a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan, listed 15 people, along with John Doe, Jane Doe, and "unnamed persons" in a notice of claim asking for an injunction for a project that the federal government approved in November 2016.

"They are individuals who say pipelines are bad, oil and gas is bad, here are all the hazards that are associated with it. And with respect that's the job of the National Energy Board and that job has been done. It took three years to do it," she said to snickers from a packed courtroom.

Protesters are causing private and public nuisance by blocking roads and jumping onto vehicles, requiring Trans Mountain to ship workers in by water but blockades have appeared at marinas as well, Killoran said.

Shooting? No.

Haul them off to jail if they ignore court injunctions, trespass etc.? Yes.

If they are respectfully and legally protesting. Leave them alone. They are just a nuisance small minority. But DO cut off their EI etc. - they certainly aren't looking for work.

Good grief. Freedom of expression does not equal freedom to do whatever you like whenever you want. These people aren't expressing anything, they are directly and intentionally interfering.

I really hope an indefinite injunction gets approved.

Since both opponents are United States based, it sounds like USA fighting over Candian land! As for the NDP it seems the provincial parties are miles apart in their thinking. Since Alberta and BC have NDP provincial governments and they seem to make their own rules as they go along, I won't be voting for them.

Contributors to the economy or consumers of the economy? The big tell is that these protesters can protest all day while the rest of us go to work to supply their taxpayer provided incomes. A good portion of it from the oil industry in both upstream and downstream jobs.

The problem for Catherine McKenna is that she is taking a sound, reasoned, logical and thought out position. It makes perfect sense.

The BC LEAP/NDP and the green anarchist protestors are not capable of doing that, and they are not interested in trying to. They just want to "burn it all down".

.
it looks like pipeline opponents are winning, kind of.. A major Alberta oil sands company has just announced it is moving to rail to move the product to tidewater. The rivers of BC, the towns along the railways, the animals on the railways, the forests the railways pass through, the urban areas of Vancouver where the rails pass through, will have pipeline protestors to point to for the curse of thousands of rumbling and dangerous rail tankers.

The expanded Burrard oil shipping terminal is already well into construction.
The increased oil tanker ships will now come and go with no change to marine regulations, that would have come with the pipeline, as well as no pipeline tax revenue to the province. Prairie grain farmer livelihoods will also now be at risk, as rail capacity moves from grain to moving oil. Thanks a bunch.

The skinny burried pipe could have gone through the sparsely populated Northern Crossing, it could have gone by pipe Trans Canada, it could go by pipe with Trans Mountain - No, the last and worst environmental option is what we're left with - rail tankers! Good going!

It seems like pipeline protesters own Canadian railway shares? If so, they've played this investment well.
Railway's win, the environment's loss.

Arrest one day after ban

Burnaby RCMP say they arrested a woman who chained herself to a work truck Friday, one day after the B.C. Supreme Court granted Trans Mountain an injunction against demonstrators.

Just before 8 a.m., Mounties received a report of a demonstrator who had chained herself to a work vehicle, impeding its movement.

Police say the 19-year-old woman was asked to remove the chains, but she refused and they arrested her for mischief.

The RCMP say they want to remind those involved in the ongoing demonstrations that police are an impartial party and they are there to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

On Thursday, a judge granted Trans Mountain an indefinite injunction aimed at preventing people from entering within five metres of work sites at the Burnaby and Westridge Marine terminals.

why is this poor young person acting so stupidly for such a loser cause? Who radicalized this person and is now using them to achieve their evil and nefarious agenda? This is what I can't stand - young people like this making stupid decisions that will affect their ability to get jobs and provide for themselves later in life when they wake up and realize they've been lied to by shills. There some really despicable people out there using our young people for evil.

Parents - like those of this 19 year old, should be ever vigilant against such evil in the world. If you see your kid is engaging in this behavior, find out why. Found out who the scum are that are manipulating your child and causing them to act this way. It's not totally their fault. They are too young to understand just how evil the people are that are causing them to chain themselves to objects at construction sites. And they need your guidance and wisdom. Don't just say "we're proud of how she stood up for what she believed in". That's a cop-out. What she "believes in" has been planted there by truly evil people.

You will notice that no 50 year old Tides Foundation or Sierra Club vice president earning six or seven figures is chaining themselves to objects at construction sites. Just like no Greepeace management members were arrested repelling off of that Russian oil rig. These people manipulate and use our youth to do their dirty work and don't care what happens to them. For shame.
