Because they don'y care about health care, only the green religion.

Health care costs (and other social programs) need to be paid for. Green ideology pays for nothing... it just destroys. Wind farms and solar have to be subsidized. What have they proposed that actually makes sense? and can is self sufficient? Nothing. Definitely nothing that the poor, low income and middle class can afford. Got $25-30 K kicking around to pay pay for solar panels that don't work? etc.

Without industry and viable sources of energy, our industry, our agriculture, our habitation collapses. The greenies have provided precisely zero alternative. Without those, no social programs at all.

The folks who really make a difference are conservationists, like the Nature Conservancy. Don't see them out protesting everything do you?

There is a balance. Things like the TMX provide the funds to pay for other things - like rapid transit, which does more to reduce GHGs than all the greenie stuff put together. That's why the power of theof the greenies is waning in countries where they got led down the "green" garden path. Italy has kicked them pretty much to the curb, the last 3 Australian state elections, the Greens got kicked to the curb.

Homeowners dismayed to learn Kinder Morgan wants their land
KELLY SINOSKI, VANCOUVER SUN 03.18.2014

Homeowners dismayed to learn Kinder Morgan wants their land
Anita Kripalani, Jane Unsworth, Joy Mancinelli, Marilyn Unsworth, Louella Mathias and Cheryl-Ann Archibald, left to right, are residents in the 10000 blocks of 172nd and 173rd streets in Surrey and would lose portions of their one-acre and bigger properties to a pipeline route being assessed by Kinder Morgan.RIC ERNST / VANCOUVER SUN

When Joy Mancinelli and her neighbours received a hand-delivered package from a land agent hired by Kinder Morgan, it was their first inkling that the proposed new twinned Trans Mountain Pipeline could rip through their backyards.

They got even more bad news on Sunday when the land agent returned and told them Kinder Morgan could take even more land than it had initially mapped out.

“It goes right across our backyard and then turns and goes around the side of our house, which is most of our property,” said Mancinelli, who has lived in her Fraser Heights home since 1979. “They can just get a right-of-way and waltz across your land and say ‘kiss my butt’ and they’re gone.”

Such a scenario is being played out across Metro Vancouver, not only in Surrey but in pockets of Langley Township and Burnaby, as Kinder Morgan maps out its potential alternative routes ahead of a National Energy Board hearing for the $5.4-billion project.

Interesting.. Where the pipeline twinning will encroach on private property in my community, the land owners have been given a nice big cheque for the inconvenience, and when the work is finished the land owners will be able to use the new right-of-way to plant a lawn or flowers or a garden or whatever was on that land prior to the pipeline, so long as the land owner doesn’t dig down six or eight feet to the pipe..It’s no different than someone else having the mineral rights to your land, unless you have purchased the mineral rights you only own the surface, the mineral right holder has access to what’s below the surface.

What happens if there is a leak under said homeowner's property and the soil is contaminated? Will KM buy the house, re-house the owner/family or remediate neighbors or other property owners affected by the pollution?

What happens if there's a leak in the sewer line in front of your house? Since it's your poop, you'll have to pay to fix it. The poop in Victoria gets dumped straight into the ocean, so I really don't think anyone (politicians, especially Horgan & Co since the produce a LOT of poop) from Victoria ought to be squeaking about KM.

Watching the news today with a bunch of kayakers protesting the TMX - yup every single one of them was in plastic kayak. Every single one of them was wearing clothing made of synthetic fibres made from petrochemical products.

If you remove the oil products from the picture, they would have been skinny dipping instead of plastic kayaking, except for the odd wool toque...

Not a single one of them had the practical skill to make themselves a wood strip kayak - oh well, what do you expect.

Makes them look pretty stupid. Plastic kayakers out virtue signaling. If they want to do so, fine, but first wean yourselves off oil people.

The letters have been written by people that support the project. Consultations have happened and those for and against have had ample opportunity. The pipeline was approved by the longest consultation in Canadian History.
So don't you dare say the silent majority have not spoken. They have quite clearly from all that recognize National Interest. If your measure of this pipelines non support is how many radicals show up and chain themselves to heavy equipment to impede work that has been approved and supported by a Court ordered injunction, you are living in a delusional bubble. You are also suggesting that these few radicals somehow represent a majority opinion soley based on the absence of pro pipeline at this site.

The reality for the reason that "pro" pipeliners are not showing up at this site is because they actually have jobs they have to go to unlike the people chaining themselves to trucks and gates.

The pipeline has crossed over private property since the mid 1950’s. The pipe is already there, all they’re doing is installing a second pipe along side the first pipe....I’d rather have the pipeline than trains with 100 tanker cars of dilbit passing through town, or derailing into the river....
I’m sure a property owners will be compensated if a leak occurred on their property.

We are in the age of mob rule. No rule of law anymore. A few believe they have it right over the majority who have it wrong so they can do whatever they want to prevent what government and the majority have decided. Not sure how that is logical. But they will create more oil rail cars and trains. Stupid stupid.

I'd provide them with one way tickets to Venezuela. Plenty of pipelines and protests to hold down there!
