Earth Hour a Failure in BC
Earth Hour fail

BC residents don't care about conserving energy. The once a year they are asked to turn off and conserve for just 1 hour, what do they do? They use even more. What does that say about the Greens?
Earth Hour is an event during which people around the world volunteer to turn off their lights and electronics to combat climate change.
But British Columbians did not do their part this year.
For the first time in a decade, electricity use across B.C. increased as compared to previous years during Earth Hour on Saturday night, which took place from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Pacific time.
BC Hydro said “electricity use rose by 0.2 per cent province wide.”
This is despite a recent report titled “Lights out: Why Earth Hour is dimming in B.C.” which found that seven in 10 British Columbians planned to participate in Earth Hour.
Participation in the global event, hosted by the World Wildlife Fund, has been declining for five years running, according to the report.
This year, Lower Mainland electricity usage increased by 0.5 per cent over last year, while Vancouver Island increased by 0.6 per cent.
Southern and northern interior regions saw no change.

It tells me that British Columbians, having been fleeced via carbon taxation like no other Canadians, are saying "enough of the *bleep* symbolism, we've done our part already". I wonder what the results were nationwide.

Or maybe there's simply .5% more people in BC, or the recent cold snap forced people to turn on the heat.
Or maybe BCers have finally realized what a crock of *bleep* Earth Hour really is?

from my research. Montreal and Toronto also did not reduce. Might have to wait another day for all the results to come in.

There wasn't enough notice about it.
We didn't know about it till after the fact.

I didn't even need notice to be conservative.

Proof positive that the public is starting to see through the scam of climate change. Next year, let's all turn more lights on, and bump up the thermostat. Take that leftists.

I didn't hear about it until just now. Advertising was lacking?
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

you guys realise that earth hour in bc accomplishes nothing right, when you get your power from hydro electric dams they dont have giant batteries to save that power lol, the only places it makes a difference is places burning coal to produce power.

You know what? We all did not see any ANY of the tree-hugging, eco-lunitics out here promoting and informing the rest of us about last night's event.
Don't feel bad.
