A few things to point out:

1) "Phobia" means an irrational fear or hatred of something. No one walks down the street scared of having to pass a gay or les person. And just because an individual disagrees or dislikes anothers life choice doesnt mean they "hate" them. There will always be a small group that does in fact "hate" others based on their life choices. Nothing you can do about it.

2) Being "Tolerant" of someone doesnt mean you have to agree with and/or love them. It just means you dont care what they do in their privacy. And "Tolerance" goes both ways. These people have to realize that they are alive because of a heterosexual relationship. The whole human race is where we are today because of our reproduction biology requiring a man and a woman to procreate together.

3) What annoys most people about the LGBTQ........whatever community, is the constant need for acceptance and virtue signalling from others. We as humans all know that not everyone we come across will like us, I know that not every woman I meet will want to date me. I know not every guy will want to be my friend. Do I care about those people? No.

The vast majority of Canadians are very tolerant and compassionate people but it seems the LGBTQ people feel the need to ensure that EVERYONE like and accept them 100%. Unfortunately the likelihood of that happening is about the same likelihood of you being friends with everyone in the Okanagan.

There's a few points I disagree with. I don't know a single person who is LGBT who isn't "tolerant" of straight people - I can't think of any examples off the top of my head of any discrimination or bullying that had moved in that direction. Even now, I can think of recent examples of discrimination toward LGBT people - so I agree, if we were at the point where they were "tolerated" and they pushed for more. We clearly aren't there yet, so I've got no issue with them to continue to push to be treated equally, not marginalized with increased bullying, discrimination, and suicide rates than average.

Just because it appears from your point of view that there's only very little discrimination currently going on towars LGBT people, doesn't mean that it's actually the case.

This is exactly what they're up against. Your dismissive attitude basically equates their desire to be represented with that of your dog's feelings of being left out. It's a clear attempt to diminish the issues that LGBTQ+ and other minority groups face.

I don't actually think that they are going about it the best way possible, but with statements like yours, I can understand their frustration and desire for change, even if it does upset some people on the way.

Yawn - who cares if your a flamer or not - could care less - but I do object to those who like swinging their dicks in public or wear a too-too to show everyone their "abnormalities" - yes, to them it's quite normal, but to society as a whole - it's NOT!!

It's a type of mental illness actually - the chemistry or some pathology in their brain is off, that's all, like serial killers and pedophiles - they think they are normal too.

It's a medical fact that studies have shown gay males have a hypothalamus that is the same - or near same - density of a female. Heterosexual men do not.

All it really is just another attempt to create some kind of "lobby" group to live on easy street making life miserable for others, and at the same time sucking off the tax *bleep*.

In case you forgot your Anatomy and Physiology, animals ( and humans are animals ) are normally attracted to the opposite sex because that's how nature designed it for guess what???? PROCREATION AND PERPETUATION OF THE SPECIES.

Do I care if your different - NO! and do I care if you like to take it up the chute? NO!! - just do it in private like I do my heterosexual duties - not on the street corner like dogs.

BTW, it isn't the NORMAL people always bringing it up, it's the FLAMERS themselves that keep throwing it in our faces, because they can't live without the "shock and awe" and the exhibitionist factor, but times are getting tough because most people are NOT shocked or awed any longer and it's frustrating for them.

Hey, I got an idea, fly off to Saudi Arabia, you might find they do care and get shocked and awed real easy - might be a new adventure for you.

:spitcoffee: You start with "who cares...." and proceed to elaborate very clearly why you care very much.
These threads *always* expose precisely the reasons why the pride events are held. The poster above has beliefs that are apparently based on his/her version of "science" while clearly making a conscious choice to ignore reality......

When we have, on the same page, one poster saying the above and another saying this :

it clearly shows these phobias exist and are quite common in our society.

It must be scary and odd living in such fear of the fact that two people of the same gender may love each other and carry on a relationship.

I don't think this pride thing is a phobia. I think that most people are sick and tired of having it flung in our faces all the time, with protests (against what?), rainbow crosswalks (stupidity), parades including watching shrivelled-up old men prance around with their cod-dangle showing. It's got to the point of being boring, not just disgusting.

What is being "flung" in your faces? For one day in a year in a community, there is a parade? Why not just not go?
Where are these protests?
A crosswalk angers you that much? Walk across the street on the next block if you figure it will turn you gay.

There are options and most are just not to let it bother you. But I really don't see what is flung in your face unless you are endlessly googling gay porn or hanging out in gay bars in large cities. If you don't like it, don't do those activities. :135:

It's clear from some of the comments that Pride has their work cut out for them. :smt045

I'm going to get called out as an intolerant :cuss: hole, but here I go.

There is a difference between thinking that there is a mental defect with a person who likes the same sex and calling them names, not hiring them for a job, denying them a service, etc.

Choosing to think for oneself about how nature creates offspring and applying this knowledge to why same sex couples must not be ideal for natural selection or continuation of a species isn't being a homophobe.

Call someone names on the street, rejecting them, shunning them and not allowing marriage is being a homophobe.

These lines are being blurred as we are constantly told that we are a bigot or homophobe if we hold an opinion that to be LGBTQ one must have a defect from the majority of the group. A very small percentage of the population is LGBTQ which by nature show some abnomality. There is a difference in ones brain, similar to the difference for someone with other mental health issues. It's not right to discriminate based on someone being different. It is ok to point out that this isn't the norm and it is also ok to have an opinion on it.
