What this sounds like is a bunch of prepubescent teens spreading gossip.......not a Speaker of the Legislature and staff. This is an embarrassment to our entire Government that transcends partisan affiliation because it wouldn't take much effort to unveil bureaucrats at the trough throughout any party rule in parliament.
I think the lesson for both sides of the Legislature here is there needs to be a house clean and right and left aligned are on the same page here.

Re: Legislative clerk and Sergeant of Arms suspended
A tour the suspended B.C. legislature clerk organized to learn about “earthquake preparedness” was actually a whale watching trip, and a seminar about emergency evacuations was actually a Seattle Mariners baseball game, according to a scathing new report by Speaker Darryl Plecas.
Taxpayers paid thousands for “official-sounding” meetings around the world that were actually opportunities for Craig James, suspended sergeant-at-arms Gary Lenz, their wives and friends to gather with flimsy explanations for why public money should pay for it, according to a report presented to a Legislature committee Thursday afternoon by Plecas.
“The trips of Mr. Lenz and Mr. James have the appearance of loosely justifiable travel on the public purse rather than necessary expenses. Moreover, I suspect that if one looks into the people they are meeting with, the same names will figure year over year,” Plecas writes.

Here we go again. More evidence of wrong-doing at the ledge. And it seems that there will be yet another player in the investigation. A retired judge has been, or will be appointed, no names mentioned as yet.

Good to see MLAs voting unanimously to hire a retired judge to look into whether or not there was misconduct on the part of James and Lenz. Mike Farnworth is quite right when he says it's important that MLAs come together on this issue and they have. Good news here too from Plecas (courtesy of the Vancouver Sun):
We have the RCMP investigation looking into possible criminal activity and a retired judge who'll be looking into possible misconduct. So the world is finally unfolding as it should.
Plecas said Thursday he will recuse himself from future investigations, and was happy a retired judge will be hired to take over.

Yes, I too am happy to hear that Plecas will no longer be Wilkinson's whipping boy. G'night, Urb.

That cement pad on the clerks property looks bad for him. Point to Plecas.

Why did the committee decide to reverse their decision to get an outside auditor? I think they should offer the position to former AG John Doyle. Who knows better than he of all the hanky-panky that's been going on in the Ledge for years?

Let's hope he recuses himself from further comment too, given it is an ongoing investigation. I'm not putting any money on that though.

He may recuse himself, however, what about his sidekick Mullen .. still don't trust those two.
