Fin was a champion in the fight to save our wild salmon, and that's what he'll be remembered for, not some minor faux pas that only his political enemies remember.

A liar is remembered for their lies until they admit that they lied. Then all is forgiven, and we move on. If you don't hold politicians to account for their lies, they get away with it.

Lyin' Brian was before my time, so I'll take your word for it.

bob vernon wrote:How ironic that the conservatives on this site greet the collapse of the NDP as good news. Where do you think NDP voters will go? Some to the Greens. Any to the Conservatives? How about the Liberals? With Scheer true to conservative form, still championing BigPharma, and Justin promising Pharmacare, the answer is obvious.

It is hard not to see the collapsing NDP as a good thing for Canada. The NDP have long lost their way in representing any kind of consensus among the population of Canada. Every time they close, the basic Marxist ideology pulls them back away from a viable consensus position. Now the NDP have added another manifesto, the LEAP manifesto, which pulls them ever more to the far left, and in a disjointed and unsustainable way.

Who do the NDP represent with their schizophrenic ideological constipation? Rachel Notley has proven that the "working people's" NDP still has appeal, and can put together some kind of credible governance - yet both the wonked out idologues in the BC NDP and the federal NDP - stuck with notions of "ideological purity" are unable to eother support Rachel Notley and the Alberta NDP 'nor leave her alone.

If you think about it, what Rachel Notley asked for was supported by 55% of BC residents. When has the BC NDP, in the sole remaining NDP bastion, ever achieved that kind of support in BC? Yet both the BC NDP and Jagmeet drifting about with schizophrenic federal NDP opposed Notley and the Alberta NDP. It makes no sense whatsoever.

My goodness, it just shows that the NDP are unable to avoid their flaws and always shoot themselves in the foot (and unfortunately us too if they have power of any kind).

Correctly, the LEAP bunch should abandon the NDP, and try to move in with the Green* party - if the Green*s were dumb enough to have them. Then the NDP could have a coherent identity not constantly at war with itself. There is no possible way to craft policy with any kind of reasonable balance until that schism is resolved. People sense that, and see little point in backing the NDP until they can see a consensus position, and quite frankly, people no longer trust the NDP because of that schism.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Can't speak for HG but it would make for some really interesting media articles that the NDP really don't need right now to bolster support lol.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Well, HG didn't waste ant time voicing his opinion when I started a new thread with that story. I don't know if those Burnaby constituents will welcome Svend back or not. He must have done something right in the 25 years he was their MLA.

Don't be fooled by the bad situation the federal NDP finds itself in. The BC NDP is doing quite well.

other than having the brains to approve Site C, the BC NDP has been one giant failure.
