Andrew Weaver Stepping Down

Post by Glacier »

Andrew Weaver about to make a "significant announcement" regarding the future of the BC Green Party. (ie. he's stepping down as leader)

Premier John Horgan is set to address media at 10am in response.

I wonder if this will lend any credence to the rumour at the UBCM the other week that Horgan is looking for an excuse to call an election this fall ahead of the economy tanking this winter as it’s predicted to do ? The last thing Horgan wants to do is go into an election next spring during a major downturn in the economy.

ETA: Horgan is probably waiting to see which way the political winds will be blowing on the 21st

You’re correct, but the feeling many of the BC mayors and councillors got at the UBCM was that the smell of a snap election this fall is in the air. That’s according to the report on the UBCM my town councillors presented to us in their report.

Do you have a true copy of that report you can post here? Thanks.

I don't have really anything to say about Weaver stepping down. Yawn
I'm posting this from Traditional lands of the British Empire & the current Lands of The Dominion of Canada.
I also give thanks for this ethos richness bestowed on us via British Colonialism.

He still maintains his seat in government. He hasn't 'gone' anywhere yet.

All MLAs in the present government were duly elected. Clark could not form government, wanted another election but Guichon accepted Clark's resignation and asked Horgan if he could form government. He said he could. Guichon accepted his assurance (as was her right) so Horgan DID form government and is our present sitting government.

Not elected. Not needed. Not wanted. Glad he is leaving. Bring on the election
