So it was Tecumseh's Idea to form Canada?

Canada was here 100 years before the English, the war of 1812 kept it from the Americans ,If not for natives we would be american.Tecumseh wanted a nation of their own for the service. They got reserves instead.Their nation deserves respect .

No one denies them respect, as no one in Canada should be denied respect, money is not respect and neither is being first on all talks in Canada a form of respect. Respect is for all people in Canada, everyone, get in line, vote for your rights as all men and woman should. Equality now!

No one denies them respect

When you deny them their nationhood you deny them respect. If you prefer the melting pot there is a country just for you and its not Canada.

Canada is not a melting pot but more of a mosaic made up of many faces, cultures and religious beliefs. We try to embrace each others differences but must keep in mind that this is Canada where all are equal and no particular group is special or above the law. It is fundamentally wrong and against everything this country is founded upon for a particular group to expect special rights and privileges based soley on their race.
The borders are wide open and if they don't like being our equals then they should think about moving on to somewhere which will hopefully grant them the special status they alone think they deserve.

Melting pot Kibbs? Everyone in Canada no matter where they come from are welcome to do their thing, we have Italian shops selling us their food, we have everything, I go into east Indian shops for their traditional food and they get the respect they deserve, if they were jerks I would not step foot in the door again,,, no reason the natives can't set up shops of many kinds showing off their history and culture and make a big buck of the "white" guy if that's the case,,, as some do already. They have been receiving cash a long time and that's gotta make em feel some respect but they holler for more demands and now it's time to let them blend in with everyone and earn respect as a Canadian they are,,, all cultures mixed, doing their thing, putting into society and enjoying just being a Canadian with a history as all Canadians are born from no matter where they came from. History is just that,,, part of where we all came from and how, no matter where we came from and now we are living here and we all have to share and behave as Canadians who all deserve and do receive respect. Time to stop putting one's self up front and stand up on their on to receive respect as all must do.
Osoyoos is proof it can happen and I think West Bank is coming up as another band who is showing great promise.
If we left respect to only honour history we'd all be behind, respect has a lot to do with how you place yourself, not how someone who is dead did it years ago so those alive now can dwell on it forever. That's not respect, that's special rights allowed over what was and is not today. You respect your doctor maybe,,, why? Cos he studied to save your life,,, cos he can save lives? Not because his Great great great grandfather mighta been a native way back then. I don't care who his ancestors were and what they did, I care he uses his knowledge to take care of me and if he fails that in a bad way he will lose his respect no matter who his people were or are.
We respect all who treat us with respect and this is what you are not understanding about what respect means. It has nothing to do with cash.

They just said on the news today that they want our government to make sure they have what they need and make their suicide levels come down,,, what? Can't do that themselves? Don't they need to start doing this stuff for themselves? This whole protest thing,,, call it Idle no more and now Enbridge no more,,, what ever you like is about everything they can add to it.

Who is this "bean counter" person you keep referring to? Or is that generalization/stereotype?

I see you either for helping natives to move forward .To honour and end treaty negotiations , ,to open talk and dialouguge with first nations .Or you think they are just tax sucking throwbacks. This is a general term i apply to a group whom are throwbacks ,delving into old myths about native peoples ,
Half the money we spend on natives goes into the government of canada departments to baby sit them, get rid of that and there is your money BEAN COUNTERS!

Counting the beans is a good thing, if we could control the beans better and keep the money going where it's really needed like say when people are trying to work and there just isn't any then people in our country would go hungry less often... Keeping the bucks in Canada is another way, we should take care of those who try for themselves no matter what their history or back ground

yes and numbers dont lie .not their numbers ,we dont have them ,only they truly know .It is obvious by looking at the way the canadian government allocates funds to natives we are truly wasteful.Comon canadian bean counters lets look at the shack in our back yard .Indian Affairs.
