The supreme Court Judge attacked by harper gets cushy Job!

Post by justincase »

Former conservative appointed Supreme Court of Canada chief justice Beverley McLachlin to be judge in Hong Kong

McLachlin, who recently retired from Canada's Supreme Court, will take up her new role once her appointment is endorsed by the Legislative Council, an elected body in Hong Kong that functions as a parliament or legislature.

1) People forget conservatives used to be fiscally conservative. After harper, they have become fiscally liberal and socially racist. Fascism is the only thing they wish to conserve.

Once her and the other appointee are confirmed, they'll be sitting as non-permanent common-law judges on the Court of Final Appeal.

When hearing an appeal The Court of Final Appeal sits with five judges, the chief justice, three permanent judges and one non-permanent judge that is either a Hong Kong judge or a common-law judge. Since there are 3 non-permanent Hong Kong judges and 12 (soon to be 14) non-permanent common-law judges the chances of her sitting on every appeal heard is slim.

The non-permanent Hong Kong judges are based in Hong Kong whereas the non-permanent common-law judges are based overseas.

She is retired. It's nice to see Canada's most influential judiciary in our history be honoured and validated for her impartial and fair decisions, even in the face of EXTREME partisanship within our governments of late!

I know she's retired. Most but not all non-permanent common-law judges are appointed when they retire. Whether you agree with her decisions or not, she'll be a valuable asset to the court.
