It costs a lot of money to fly these people around so they can be tortured properly.

No. Please fill us in with your rates. Actually, the UN has declared the taser a torture device. so, you can get it for free in Canada.

Just walk up to your friendly neighbourhood RCMP Officer and...

Or, you could be an old man just dropping off your wife...

Or, hang out at an airport looking lost and confused...

Anyone who has ever been through the Kelowna airport knows there is no public area behind the officers for them to dump your clothes out and search them. My wife and I were searched after spending 7 weeks in Mexico and were escorted into a room directly behind the two booths. We were drilled and they tried to trip us up but at all times it was done in a respectful manner. I am glad they are watching the border for us and why would anyone get upset? My wife was a customs officer at a highway crossing and you would not believe the stuff people try to lie and cheat about. This is just a case of someone who thinks he is someone a little mightier than he really is.

Exactly, this guy doesn't have a leg to stand on in asking for an apology. All the exams are done behind that same wall you talk about and out of the public view.

Well, you know, if you were there and saw it all happening to this guy, saw security take him into the "private room" you mention and saw (and hopefully video'd) the whole thing and know for a fact that he wasn't searched right out where all the rest of the airport travelers could see everything in his bags, why didn't you just say so?

Do you two work there for security??

Security? Are you talking about the Commissionaires?

Wow, searched by customs, and this is news?
Does he think he's royalty? I've never even heard of him.
Big deal. Last time I was thoroughly searched by customs, they said it was just "my lucky day".
Really, if you don't like it, vacation in Canada and not some third world crime-infested hole ...

Exactly! There is no story here. They are just doing their job and there is no abuse of power in this story. Single cocky male travelling from Mexico and having nothing to declare is suspicious and I would search him too. When my wife was a customs officer all types of people tried to cheat the system. Young men, woman, grannies, lawyers, cops, doctors, judges, and everybody else. Some poured whiskey in the window washer reservoir, some old grannies sewed smokes into pillows, some would hide their dope inside coffee cans and some hid there handguns in false floors in their motorhome and false panels in suitcases. (one desperate guy even hid some dope in an urn full of the ashes of his dead mother.) All had the goal of cheating the system of duty or smuggling illegal things across the border and it's the job of the officer to figure out who is doing it. The best advice is tell the truth, don't bring in anything illegal and if your over your limit it's not a felony. The officers will tell you what is the cheapest thing for duty and claim that as your overage and off you go. If you get searched comply, have receipts handy and if you did nothing wrong they have no reason to charge you. This guy by his accounts did nothing wrong and he most likely didn't but sometimes you need to prove it by letting them search your stuff. If he would just have shut up and gone on his way nobody would have known he had a suitcase full of dirty underwear. Now we all know! :spinball:
