Alta. police commissioner charged in child porn case

The charges arose after officials with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security contacted Canadian authorities about an alleged cyber-relationship between a Taber man and a young American girl, officials with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said.

ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit worked with U.S. police on the investigation.

A search warrant was executed at the home of Curtis David Paradee, 42, on Tuesday. Police seized his home computer, memory drives and related hardware for forensic examination, officials said.

Paradee was arrested and remains in custody. He faces numerous charges including accessing child pornography and communicating with a person under 16 for the purpose of committing an offence.

Investigators allege Paradee posed as a teenage boy to interact via various social media with a 15-year-old girl in the New York area.

He is accused of asking the girl to perform sexual acts on live video chats.

The offences are alleged to have happened between July and October 2010.

Paradee has been a member of the Taber police commission for five years, officials said. He lives in the town of 7,500 people with his wife and children.

His first court date is June 21.

Taber is about 200 kilometres southeast of Calgary.

Headlines like THIS are worthy of discussion and IMO, this guy needs to be thrown in prison ASAP (assuming he is guilty). Let the other cons show him what happens to kiddy diddlers. Especially cop kiddly diddlers.

As Steven, myself and others have said repeatedly though... your blind obsession and bias take away from the importance of the issue. Instead of this particular pervert getting the attention and discussion, this will just be passed off as "another" grumpdigger thread.

The thread got hundreds and hundreds of hits a week .so there was obviously a lot of people who were very interested in the topic.

But the pro police censorship committee wants it stopped .so misconduct can be hidden and Quiet you should be very proud of yourself

The Chairman of the police commission is not a police officer. He is either a city councillor or someone appointed by the Mayor. So not really a police story.

The Taber Municipal Police Commission is comprised of
seven individuals who govern the Taber Police Service.
There are two members of the Taber Municipal Council and
five citizens at large who hold terms as appointed by the
Mayor.

People that are involved In the management of Police services Are just As liable for their actions. Because they represent The police for that area.

Even Grumpydigger ought to know that there is a distinct difference and separation between people who serve on police commissions for communities and the police themselves. Police commission members have no law enforcement responsibility and no law enforcement authority..period.
