More Hospitals, Less Jails

Post by kelofornia »

While everyone is applauding Clifford Olsen's impending death just think of how much it has cost the people of this province and country to keep him and others like him there.

The government needs to provide food, lodging and medical care to those that truly need it and deserve it not the dregs of society that have assaulted us before incarceration and then again during the term of their sentence.

Why do they not PRIVATIZE the jails and force the inmates to provide for themselves?

We need more hospitals and less jails in this country, the aging population is enslaved by the powers to provide tax dollars so the governments can do business. The government in turn WASTES that revenue on keeping the big machine running. That machine is law enforcement, lawyers, judges, jails , jail guards, and the inmates.

Who is going to care for our elderly? There are elderly out there across this country that can't afford to feed themselves; Clifford Olsen and his brethren inmates have had a free ride at the expense of GOOD people.

MORE HOSPITALS-LESS JAILS
MORE NURSES AND DOCTORS-LESS POLICE OFFICERS

Why less police officers?
Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.

It is often said that truth is the first casualty of any war

Less police officers doesn't make sense.

It costs "tons" to execute prisoners. Jails are better.
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

I'd be in favor of a "death race" scenario or perhaps something like the running man then at least they would be earning back some of the money they cost. ;)

At the very least privatize the damn jails and make the inmates provide for themselves and that includes their medical care.

Where are you going to go when you get sick, and who's going to look after you?

Public healthcare for those that contribute to society and private jails with no comforts for those that don't contribute to society. Any new jails built should go waaaaaay up north where it's cold and desolate just like they are.

You want to break the law, you're on your own you won't have my tax dollars to stitch you up when you get shanked inside.

You guys don't seem to understand the way the big money machine works.
The police, the lawyers, the judges, the jails, the guards. That's a machine that makes a lot of money and at the same time costs a lot of tax payer moeny to operate the machine.

It is much simpler for the government to find and employe police officers and jail guards than it is to find qualified doctors and nurses. So the criminals get the easy way to free everything for the duration of their stay at the big house.

How long have some of you waited to see a doctor in the ER let alone waited to see the specialist if you were fortunate enought to get a referral. What about the wait for an MRI let alone surgery .
Oh you can get it today if you can AFFORD to pay, we've all paid enough for what is supposed to be free.

When all that work at KGH is complete there won't be enough staff to operate at capacity. The long waits in ER will continue as will patients being in hallways. Why isn't the government offering incentives to anyone wanting to become a nurse. Instead they have hiked tuition again.

Did someone forget to tell you that the babyboomers are aging. They haven't been kind to their bodies and a lot of them are going to require care. Where are they going to get it. Some already are homeless and not receiving the attention they need.

It's not rocket science to commit crime and get free medical care, free dental, free eyecare. It shouldn't be that the elderly pay $3000 a month in an assisted living facility because they can't live alone anymore, it should be that the elderly eat cat and dog food to survive. But it is, because NO ONE cares.

Hell, I figure that once I need care and can't afford to pay my rent, I'll just commit some crime and go to some petty crime jail and live there. Meals, TV, internet, medical, dental, eyeglasses and dentures - and a pillow to put my head on at night. I'll probably need extra blankets, though.
