You are definitely confused over two entirely different pieces of legislation Butcher. What you are referring to is Bill C-10, the Safe Streets and Communities Act (AKA Omnibus Crime Bill) which became law and took effect back in March and was discussed elsewhere - ancient history. This thread is about Bill C-38, the Jobs, Growth and Long-Term Prosperity Act (AKA Omnibus Budget Bill) which passed without amendment yesterday. It is effectively the 2012 (and beyond) federal budget.

ah yes, sorry, you are correct. That was the first omnibus bill. The other one that contained a ton of stuff that no one but harper thought we needed and that they Feds say they will not pay for.

I got a question, its been awhile since I took government in school(hell we havent had a majority government in years), but with all these radical changes the Cons are making with their bill and with the Cons losing support from voters on all fronts, can a vote of non confidence in a majority governemnt be called?? I mean isnt there a way to protect Canada from vast sweeping changes a majority government can make?

it can be called at any time or any financial bill is a confidence bill. But since they have a majority it would go no where. That was why there was a move to attempt to get 16 Tories to vote against the bill. That went over like a lead balloon.

I asked this question all through the horrible reign of Trudeau. We were powerless while that government put through a ton of crap that we still have to live with today. Thank goodness at least Section 13 is gone.
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are now outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
If we could just tax "stupid", there would be no government deficit
