Dumb poll question.
Do bankers deserve their wages? Sheesh.

Sounds to me it will be more like the citizens who will be yelling to government to bail them with more social funding, not the banks.

It's starting to sound like a distant relative of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Hopefully we can avoid the same pitfalls. There is a very fine line between helping people and the economy and ruining them both. Maybe the government should just stay out of it and let the lenders look after themselves. It wouldn't be pretty but it might slow our debt problem. If creditors knew they would have to cover it all themselves they might be a bit more careful in how they lend.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.

in order for a second bail-out to occur, a first bail-out would have had to have happened, which has yet to occur. Given we have one of the strongest banking sectors in the world, I don't forsee our banks requiring any bail-out, ever, ala the US and British banking systems, but you never know. Hopefully, if such an event does happen, our government reacts with the same strength and courage that it did in 2008, when they guaranteed some mortgages to lend confidence to the entire system, which was a shrewd and brilliant move. The only real issue is shysters, politicos and complete fools with no understanding of what a "bail-out" is, to try and spin the mortgage guarantees as anything other than a shrewd and courageous move to stabilize the banking system in a moment of panic. But I don't think any organization in Canada, even ones funded by unions and brain-dead NDP supporters, and run by old failed NDP hacks, would stoop that low. Surely they would have the integrity not put out reports about the guarantees with no bearing in reality right? And even if they did, no one would be fooled by something so obviously blatantly incorrect and foolish right? People are smarter than that right? Sure they are.

This looks like a really grumpy thread. The reason i picked it is because I heard on the news last night that RBC got downgraded. I have a savings account there so what should I do? This news is new.
I think that little girls videos are okay because she wants people to think. Some good thinkers here.
Thanks.
Sorry I didn't vote at the top because I haven't made up my mind yet.

Your savings account is safe. RBC was downgraded simply because they have some exposure to European and international debt markets, so there is an extremely small potential risk there. Your account is insured, so there's nothing to worry about.

Anyone that thinks their savings account or any other investments are "safe" because those investments are insured needs their heads examined.
