Re: Food prices in the North
It does seem a shame that some people who may have lived in a spot for many years or generations can not afford to live there anymore. As many posters have said the higher cost is a direct reflection of the added transprtation costs. Too bad it all comes back to oil prices but thats to world we live in. As bad as I feel for the people who have to pay such high prices for everything, I do not care to subsidise for people who live in remote locations. You choose to live in a place like that you get space, quiet, solitude, community, you also get higher prices on EVERYTHING, no doctors and possibly no schools. We all make choices and they always have pro's and con's. You don't like the con's of your situation than, change it, don't expect someone to swoop in and make it all better for you.

Fluffy, "Tri-Milk" what awful memoirs that brings back. We used to bribe flight crews to bring a few liters of milk up with them when they were doing resupply flights out of Yellowknife to Resolute.
