Thank-you for this info, I have spoken to someone in the office who is looking into it and seeing what they can do!
Keep us posted please? Remember you are paying them through your taxes, they are there to assist in these types of problems.
Good luck on that, and good luck on raising your children.
There are far too many children walking around out there with holes in their hearts, the exact same shape as their fathers.

That is such a horrible claim on their end. Child support is exactly that... support for the well being of the children, not the mother. So if you were to live off the children's support - that would be considered bad on your end. Not a win win situation at all.
Corina, I do not have any tangible advice to give you but by reading posts from some of the other people here, hopefully you will be on the right track in no time.
I admire you for coming on here, sharing your story. That was all you did was share it - not play the poor me card or whine about anything and look at all the people that are stepping up to the boards to try help you!
Just never know who you come across on the boards!
Good luck girl!

Re: EI
Okay! So here is the update already! She spoke with them and they will have my claim finished and done tomorrow and the money in my bank by next Friday, and I am getting a bit more than I was originally getting so they will be back paying that amount on top of what my bi-weekly payments will be. She said that EI is to call her immediately when my claim is done and she will be able to let me know what the amounts will be :nyah: :nyah: Thank- you all for your ideas and words of support :discodance:

That would be Conservative. Whatever party, they will help with these problems. As you can see by the update, they work quite quickly to help single parents and seniors work through the systems that can be quite cumbersome as each department passes the buck to another.

Good thread, don't turn it into another political go-around. Keep it on topic.

Re: E.I.
UI/EI was always a cash cow for the government and only recently wasnt making as much money. if the monies were actually going towards recipients and not flooded into the general funds the system wouldnt have had to change. funny how the government feels no need to change things until there is a recession they watched happen and stood by. thus shafting those who try to actually use the system and need it. why are they not making changes to all the loopholes businesses have? we need to omnibus that. hope the ndp does that when they get elected a miniority.

Re: E.I.
Now here is the weird part- they say that they are overpaying me now by $500 and want it paid back at 50% per check for the next four weeks. All the money that they should be paying me is all owed to me, so how can there be an overpayment? Plus they say I need to serve a two week waiting period, which I served one in August September and recently yet another for April May and they owe me back pay plus the six weeks. What is with this overpayment crud?? Anyone proficient in EI that could help??

WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR PEOPLE LIKE THIS WHO MAKE POOR DECISIONS IN LIFE? THREE KIDS WITH ONE ON THE WAY? COME ON!!! If you can afford it, sure, why not? But seriously? Why am I paying EI to support this kind of activity? :ohmygod:
It only raises E.I. costs!

IE also takes care of maternity leaves.
and IE is an "Employement Insurance"
We never know when we could lose our job, having kids or not is just a part of the deal.
