He made it but should have left the safety harness off. Now that would have been cool, although, back in the seventies I can recall a member of that family falling to his death. (It was freaky - never saw someone die right there on tv)

He didn't want to wear it, but the network (ABC) made him, or they wouldn't broadcast it. :[

A bunch of my friends were there - said it was pretty wild to see such a thing. I forgot about it. lol

It was tape delayed (unless you watched it on ABC or CTV east). I watched it twice. Once with a live stream online with "no play by play" and again on tv with ABC talking throughout the thing.

Nik Wallenda was asked what could be next he said possible the Grand Canyon.

"When asked what was next Mr. Wallenda casually mentioned that his next crossing would be even larger, the Grand Canyon. And the wait probably won’t be nearly as long as the one for his Falls crossing as he already has the permits to cross the Grand Canyon."

So crossing the grand canyon could happen at anytime pretty much.
