He is not intolerant of natives, he is tired of hearing excuses and he said so, you only see the dark side of it because that's all you want to see.

And so you argue with yourself that you don't mean what you said about Black people, so why'd you bother? He meant it, you are digging for comparison and here is a note for you, I have worked with one native, he said he didn't want to be stuck on Indian land (his words) when he could work and enjoy his money, he partied a bit too much but he did work for it and he had stuff to his own name. Have worked with Lots of Black people, lazy,,, they were not. Enjoying their money,,, yes like the rest of us. What's to compare here? I have never worked with a lazy black person, they all did their share. Have had friends, both native and black,,, how would I compare them? Well most of my native friends honestly,,, were either on welfare or on native funding. One guy, I offered him space in my store for free to set up and display his carvings he was doing on the side of his welfare money,,, did he use it? Nope, first few days and then once he had smokes and food and beer he was gone and then wanted back in next time he was out,,, good friend but he didn't do much for himself. Once, he helped me shovel my store driveway, that was cool of him but it just happened to be snowing when he was there. Sorry but that's the truth and I felt bad for him but I couldn't do more then offer some free space, couldnt make him come in and I had a store to manage wasn't gonna start selling his stuff and managing his money. This offer would been a good draw in for me too so I saw an opportunity for us both, he didn't jump on it unless he needed some extra money.

In a professional office, casually tell your secretary not to take "Indian time" getting her paperwork done.

See how long you keep your job if HR hears about it.

I hate today's young people because their lousy work ethics give me and other young people a bad name. They make it look like all we're good for is living in our parent's basement, smoking weed, and holding min. wage jobs waiting for "the big break" - record contract, or a museum buying my collection of doodles on napkins I draw when I poop.

I also hate how Canadians do nothing but whine and complain how life is tough even though they have the highest standards of living in the world, plenty of opportunities to get to the top, and just need to work once in a while.

As an immigrant, I hate how my fellow country men try to take advantage of Canadian social system and milk it for all it's worth. Instead of honest work and enjoying fruits of it later.

He was not in a professional work place setting, he was trying to tell his people who are may Not in a working situation they need to do something about that and make something of themselves. My parents wouldnt have gotten away with what they told me either in a work place setting,,, they told me not to get a lazy *bleep*, (in so many words) or I be an idiot washing dishes in a greasy spoon restaurant for a living. No HR there either. What did your parents say that a work place HR wouldn't agree with? Probably more then you can remember if they were all over making sure you would become something. After all - the majority of people in prison in the USA are black. The majority of poor people are black. They must be lazy and prone to criminality.

You're right, I'm double racist and single ageist. And stereotypes exist for a reason, so get over it. It's better to encourage people to deal with big white elephant in the room than try to pretend that it's not there and call anybody who sees it racists.

Once again, Native people who I know don't think he's racist and agree that it's time for a change. And that he'd done a lot of advancement of Native people in today's society. And that he is example of what can be achieved if one applies himself - not just for himself, but for the entire nation.

Research "self hating blacks" and why people hate their own race. Mainly it's guilt and low self esteem.

This is only a guess, but seems to me Chief Louie was told he was worthless his whole life and actually came to believe it. Money is the only thing that equates worth to him, because the word "Native" is tainted to him.

That, and as I mentioned, 15 years ago his band wasn't "as nice" as it is now. You really think that the Louie family didn't do better than other families on HIS PEOPLES land?

I do not believe I'm racist, I have many friends who are native, relatives and was once married to one.

The term INDIAN TIME to me, has always meant show up when you wish, not being punctual.

The sun is your dial, and it's running slow so to speak. I think you are making Louis statements sound racist. I take it he is very proud of his heritage. His has educated himself, and he wants his people to educate themselves and use their treaty right to do so. His goal is to change from the past ways of sitting with a hand out. He wants his people to be proud of their achievements and move forth. He doesn't believe in sitting with his hand out hoping the Government will come clean of their promises. He looks deeper into the future in my read then many do, he is looking out for the good of himself and all natives.

What reading of you it almost appears to be the poor me that has been the projection of many in the past. It's time to move forward.

If you had to have something built the best it could in the shortest time possible by 100 laborers picked at random for the same price, would you have it built in Germany or Jamaica? If you had to bet on a random group of white guys playing a random group of black guys at hockey, who would you bet on? What about basketball?

When I lived in the Kootenay's, there was something called 'Kootenay time".

When I lived in Ontario, it was "Vancouver/Italian/Polish Time".

"______ time" (insert race) has always been used as a general term to slander a whole group of people. Indian Time is a negative slander, branding all Indians to be lazy.

To you being lazy and not showing up on time - is associated with - Indians!
