Time will tell ... still 2 years to go ... he has po a lot of people even if not directly ... my life hasn't changed a bit since he was elected and won't in the future either but I don't like the way he uses conninving ways to get what he wants ... Omnibus bills anyone .. Some will say the Liberals did the same ... but we all know you can't remotely compared the 2 ..
Hoping more than 61.4 % of Canadians shows up at the polls next time .. Because winning a majority with 39.6 % and only 61.4 % of Canadians voting is pretty lame ...LOL !!

G20 - "troop on the streets". Worst of civil rights violation in Canadian history. Warrant-less internet searches too. Justifying torture, ect ect.

Abortion - the PM doesn't let his caucus breathe without permission, but every 3 weeks some wacko MP's try to bring it back on the table.

A good portion of the "hidden agenda" was hidden in the Omnibus Bill. Re-writing 50 years of environmental legislation to promote resource extraction without a discussion.

Gay Marriage - meh. Read up on the Christian and Missionary Alliance, the Evangelical church Mr Harper belongs to. I know he probably washes his hands after touching gay people or things gay people touched, but no Canadian politician is that suicidal. His church forces him not to believe in science. That's scary. Look up the 7 main points of evangelical climate skepticism.

What Stephen Harper said:

"Stephen Harper will cease patronage appointments to the Senate. Only candidates elected by the people will be named to the Upper House."

(Stephen Harper Leadership Website, January 15, 2004)

"… the Upper House remains a dumping ground for the favoured cronies of the Prime Minister."

(Stephen Harper Leadership Website, January 15, 2004)

What he did:

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is preparing to reward some of his longest-serving and most loyal political operatives with Senate appointments

(Canwest News, August 26, 2009)

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has named a Canadian Football League team owner who gave thousands to his 2004 leadership campaign as the latest Conservative senator.

(CBC News Canada, May 20, 2010)

What Stephen Harper said:

"I don't plan to appoint senators; that's not my intention."

(Stephen Harper, Cornwall Standard-Freeholder, January 14, 2006)

What he did:

Harper Appoints 18 Senators

(Canada.com, December 22, 2008)

Harper appoints 9 to Senate

(Toronto Star, August 27, 2009)

Ontario’s Runciman among 5 new senators

(Toronto Star, January 29, 2010)

Harper appoints BC Lions owner David Braley to senate

(680 News, May 20, 2010)

Harper a hypocrite for appointing senators, say most Canadians

(Angus Reid poll, July 24, 2010):

Harper takes control of Senate with 2 appointments

(Canada.com, December 20, 2010)

To suit his own political purposes, Stephen Harper has stacked the unelected Senate to an unprecedented degree, in direct contradiction to his election platform; and he has politicized the Senate to an extent never seen before. Steven Harper’s promises to make the Senate more democratic are a charade, and his actions have greatly diminished the neutrality of our house of “sober second thought”.

* To date, Stephen Harper has appointed 38 unelected Senators to the 105-seat Senate.

I don't get it. When the Liberals win a majority with 38.5% it's legit, but if the Conservatives win 39.6% it's a joke?

Not much different than today...

Voter turnout as a percentage of the population.

I never said it wasn't legit. Mathematically you would prefer a better turn out of voters, no ? I would say the same if it was Liberals. I would love all Canadians to be more involved. Don't you ?

While I don't really care about politics (federal especially) watching certain individuals epically butthurting over our PM is quite enjoyable.
