Gays, blacks nixed as currency images

The Bank of Canada considered celebrating gay marriages, black hockey players, and turban-wearing RCMP officers on its new plastic bank notes, but eventually nixed them all in favour of the more traditional images of a train, a ship and a monument.

As far as I'm concerned, it's ok they rejected all of these.. because this is not what comes to my mind first when I think of Canada. I believe the Bank of Canada did a great job illustrating the new plastic bills.

I would have loved to see Justin Bieber doing sizzurp and Carly Rae Jepsen's hacked nude images on our bills. :ohmygod:

Some consider the new $20 bill as pornographic.

According to some:
1st.. The Vimy Memorial on it looks like the World Trade Center
2nd.. It looks like the woman on top is holding a penis
3rd.. The sculptures on it are featuring topless women.

Vimy Memorial is very important, but it probably wasn't the best choice as there are details that are lost in such a small image, and are obviously misinterpreted by many. My only hope is that no one will come up with the idea of putting Harper or any of our more recent prime minister's faces on our bills.

I don't think anyone on the bills should change. At least for another 100 years. (except maybe the Queen replaced by the next King) Otherwise, no reasons for new faces, but neutral backs like combines in a field (old 2's), hockey, maybe a fishing boat would be good, and other Canadian general items are great. IF we start making our money specific to special interest groups, and certain minorities it doesn't feel to me like Canada at that point, it feels like monetary campaigning.

Leave the old pics from ages ago, and keep the backs Canada neutral, I want our money to represent Canada in General, not someone specific, whether I agree with them or not.

I totally agree.
Things that have always symbolized Canada. Putting all the other suggestions on our bills is being self centred and is in my opinion not proper.

I'd be happy if they just got the old hag off of our bills .
