Article said ... two men tried to leave the Spruce Grove store, just west of the city, with a vehicle battery and a subwoofer speaker sometime around 11 p.m.

Wal-Mart stores close at 11 p.m. unless it's Christmas when they are open 24 hours so there's no way the greeter was working at 11:30 p.m. Talk to a few of the greeters and ask them why they work the late shift ... most of the older ones like the later hours as it gives them something to do other than sit at home and watch TV, plus the store is quieter than during the day.

All employees fill out a form detailing the days and hours they are available for work. When complete, it's inputted into the store computer to make scheduling easier.

Unfortunately for some, the choice is to still be working at 74 or live on the street.

Everyone I've encounter working the door seemed genuinely happy to be there.
Unlike some of the miseries at the till.
