Just because these doctors didn't graduate from a school that was acceptable to our college, they are now driving taxi's, delivering pizza's and doing other jobs. All the while holding a doctorate. To me if they went through medical school, they are qualified. You don't find many medical schools that are back alley teaching businesses.
Any thoughts on where we'd get the money to pay for them?

Or go out of town, that is what I did. I would have waited over two years for an appointment if I hadn't gone to my doctor and said "I'll travel." Kamloops isn't that far, and I was in to see my rheumatologist within 6 weeks (though to be fair, I was on a call list for cancellation).
I haven't failed until I quit.

I thought supply and demand economics would mean we'd pay these guys less, and therefore be able to have more for the same money.
Exactly what the BCMA doesn't want, just like they don't want nurse practitioners. We are paying doctors 25%? more than most developed nations, and specialists even more than that. It's a bit fuzzy, http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/health/how-much-are-canadian-doctors-paid/article7750697/
IF we paid doctors on world competitive rates, just like regular workers now face, then we could have at least 20% more doctors for no extra cost. They'd still get $100,000/yr plus - which ain't all bad.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Good doctors are one profession that are worth every penny they make. The commitment, perseverance and money that it takes to become a qualified, competent doctor justifies their salary quite easily.
