Exactly!!!

I believe that the constant criticism by people really know nothing about the job is probably a huge part of the problems suffered by the RCMP, first responders in general. The majority, great majority of them are out there to do the very best job they can to serve us the public and in return they are criticized constantly for everything they do. In many/most cases they would be criticized no matter what they did. It would either be too much or too little. A no win situation. A bigger problem is probably 98% of these criticizers truly know very little about the actual situation, yet these responders have to hear and see these criticisms every day on TV, in the papers, in the coffee shops, at every turn. And in many cases they actually did the right thing. No wonder they suffer.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.

Irrelevant - police can and do screw up (they are only human) and that does NOT mean someone ends up dead.

There's many cases where your scenario doesn't play out.

Exactly and most of the time we actually know little or nothing about the actual situation. In fact I believe in most we base our opinions based on our opinions of police, nothing to do with the actual facts of the situation, which we usually have little knowledge of.
