So they overpay their employees for doing a half-days work for decades and now they have to make cuts? How does that work?
They say you can't believe everything they say.

Canada Post is mandated by Parliament to be self-sufficient and is not supported by taxpayer dollars since 1981.

To JOF585 ...

Who pays the cost of most of the costs associated to post office mailing cost? Taxpayers.

Yes. 85 cents to send a letter across the country is way too much. Parcels ? You can use UPS, FedEx. According to you, you never use Canada Post service so it doesn't cost you a penny. The little mail you receive is paid by the sender so you're ok.

Sent a parcel to my daughter in Edmonton last Christmas. Checked out UPS, FedEx etc. Prices were more than double what I spent at Canada Post. Good service on time. Without that competition the courier prices will go through the roof.

I live in a small town. I have had a community box for 19 years. Get over it.

To Tootall ...

Have you noticed over all those years that you have had a community mail box that you have been suffering great hardship as a result of not being able to pick your mail up on your doorstep?

Got a postcard from CRA this morning (in both official languages of course).

Front side has a Magicians hat and wand with the message:

Going Paperless is Magical!

Back side:

Make paper, stamps and envelopes disappear
Webforms save you time and money
-Save, print and send your T4 slips electronically - for free!
-Get confirmation that the Canada Revenue Agency has received your return, within seconds of filing.

Save time and money:
cra.gc.ca/webforms

Even the CRA is finally giving up on Canada Post for letters.
"THEY" are watching you! -- "THEY" know who you are! -- "THEY" know where you are!
Always use heavy duty BBQ tinfoil under your Black Hat - That way "THEY" can't read your 'mind'.

Canada Post will probably become more of a parcel delivery service than letters. After all who else will deliver all the internet purchases coming from China?
I got Married because I was sick and tired of finishing my own sentences.
That's worked out great for me!

All profit goes to the public coffers for the benefit of all Canadians.
