tonights news reports a vernon police officer guilty of child porn, also a penticton off duty officer drove over a 5 year old kid and killed him in a crosswalk.

When an officer who commits an offense is made to account for his/her misdeeds I am reassured that the system is responding to such situarions as it should.

Although both stuations took place while the offices were off duty and thus not acting a police officers, moral tritude is, IMO an offense that the officer carries within him/her and thus worthy of supporting being dismissed from the RCMP.

Both offenses were committed by INDIVIDUAL officers WHILE OFF DUTY and are not ones that the force as a whole could have prevented. My compliments and condolances to the officers wife and family as well as to the friends and family of the young lad who died.
