Target stores are closing!

Post by Bsuds »

Not much of a surprise really but I feel sorry for the employees who are losing their jobs.

A bit surprised. The buck was probably the final nail though.

Went twice and came out empty handed and the stores seemed empty of people and product. Yup, no surprise.

We went there maybe 4 times since they opened and were not impressed.

Didn't even think about going there when looking to purchase anything.

It is pretty tough out there for retailers once Walmart super centres invade. There is something about Walmart that I positively cannot stand, so when I did need something from that type of store I went to Target. Before that, to Zellers.

It's really too bad.

I'd have made an effort to go if their prices were better. But they weren't so shopped local (Rutland)

Prices weren't compatible to their American counterpart. Poorly stocked shelves and selection the couple times I ventured in. Also who doesnt have a proper website these days? No online catalogue, I think that was a huge oversight.

Wow, what a colossal waste of money this venture has been. As others have said, Target (at least in Kelowna) was a more-expensive version of WalMart, with less selection. While I did shop there occasionally (usually when I was already in Orchard Plaza for some other reason), I won't miss the store. Truly unfortunate for the staff there, many of whom probably thought they were getting in on the ground floor of a good thing. Sad that they will not only lose their jobs, but that their efforts have been wasted.

I understand the hate some folks have for Walmart, but the Target Canada fiasco has nothing to do with it. They did this to themselves.

I feel really bad for the folks who work there, although I have to say 16 weeks severance (if it materializes) is pretty good for 2 years of working retail.

If Zellers were so great they'd still be here. As far as Target goes it was just an under stocked Zellers
