Someone who isn't going to put innocent Canadian lives at risk by joining wars we don't belong in. Someone who isn't going to spend 10's of billions of dollars on our military since we have almost no need for one, especially fighter jets. Someone who isn't going to bend over every time he's pressured by the USA. Someone who isn't clearly one of the biggest puppets we have ever had for a leader.

Someone who thinks budgets fix themselves. Someone whose only platform point is making it legal to light up a big fatty. Someone who leads a party that publicly states that tax cuts are bad because it will allow Canadians to pay Down debt. That one?

At any rate, I wonder if anyone shares my expressed concern that these kinds of media releases are not likely to produce any positive results and may well do quite the opposite.

So DND makes press releases about what they are doing and people complain about it and when DND doesn't make press releases people complain about it. Sounds about typical for Castanuts.

The more we see CF-18's bombing ISIS and Stephen Harper behind a flag dropping "jihad" and "freedom" like they were going out of style - the better it is for their main voter base.

If that ends up *bleep* off lots of people on the fence about whether Canada is doing the right thing or just backing American empire building and we end up with more domestic attacks on Canadian home soil - AWESOME FOR THE ELECTION.

It still has not been confirmed that the shooting in Ottawa was a actual terrorist attack instead of a self-radicalized action. That hasn't stopped Stephen Harper from playing it up as much as humanly possible even when we are still waiting for the video made by the shooter to be released - its been how long now? We've drafted new anti-terror laws even before its been confirmed it was a actual terrorist attack!

Generally when you're at war or under attack you don't switch governments, right?

Also that would allow the government to draft even more laws giving police and spy agencies more power to control and spy on the one group the government fears the most - the general population.

It's win/win.

Are you trolling? Or even after repeated requests, you've neglected to research terrorism?

The incident in Ottawa was a terrorist attack, in that it resulted in general fear and "terror" in the population. The target of the attack was not the decorative soldier that was shot, the target was the resulting aftermath. This is what defines a terrorist attack.

It has not been confirmed whether this terrorist attack had any connection to an existing terrorist group, is what you should have said, but did not, thus spreading misinformation.
Come quickly Jesus, we're barely holding on.

We are defining terror(ism) as all types crime now?

My grandmother was terrified when the terrorist struck at the heart of the Canadian economy when he stole her purse. The community is now gripped in fear of another attack.

Too wild of a example? The recent Moncton RCMP shooter. Interesting how the government isn't' at all calling that crime a gun-enthusiast anti-government terrorist attack. Especially considering a major Canadian city city was locked down for days and the RCMP were directly engaged - a mirror reflection of what happened in Ottawa. The shooter was a known anti-government supporter, gun-enthusiast looking to take out the oil companies! Talk about poking the King's eye.

...but that doesn't play well to the base, does it? The government can choose exactly what they want and don't want to call terrorism and the Moncton RCMP shooting is a clear shining example of that.

The incident in Ottawa was a terrorist attack, in that it resulted in general fear and "terror" in the population.

Interesting statement considering that the RCMP and CSIS have both warned the Harper government not to use inflammatory language or hype the fear up of any type of attacks, which they have completely ignored.

"Fear and terror" . There isnt a editorial column in this country that hasn't written about Stephen Harper playing up the fear and terror as per the upcoming election (so he can save us from it) so I'm curious as to who the terrorist is and what terrorism is defined as here by your definitions and defined intentions. If "the terrorists win if we are in fear and terrorized/change our way of life" then why doesn't the Harper government shut their trap about it and stop giving the terrorists message and intentions so much power by repeating it and making changes to our rights and freedoms?

A terrorism expert down in the US recently accused a news channel of basically "doing ISIS's P.R. work for them", by the news channel going on and on and on about the horror of the beheadings and playing it up for ratings.

How about playing it up for votes?
