I was not here when Pierre was in power, so I only have his legacy to go on. Charter of rights and freedoms and all that entails, immigration reform, a bilingual culture.

I can understand why a staunch liberal supporter would be desperate to get the focus away from the bumbling ignorance of PM Justin Trudeau and try to make Pierre Trudeau the focus of this thread about Justin. The only thing that PET has to do with Justin is that Justin is a less knowledgeable, less intelligent version of his far left wing father. His father was a truly smart man with extreme left wing ideas. From what Justin has done to date he has the same THEORETICAL left wing beliefs but little of the real life knowledge that Pierre had. His genetics has failed him badly.

^It IS about Justin. Other people used the thread to trash Pierre.

Btw to the guy who said I need to let people answer in their own way - trashing Pierre and using buzz-words like 'fanboi' and so on isn't an answer. It's not even anything resembling an answer. It's so confusing people don't even know what the thread is about. And does it even matter? Every thread about Trudeau becomes a partisan free-for-all.

Because earning a university degree, having a successful career as a teacher, being elected PM of Canada and adopting policies generally favored by Canadians truly shows the life of a failure.

How many people here have even achieved a 1/5 of what Trudeau has? I always find it incredibly strange when people mock extremely successful people and act like all the success is no big deal.

Someone here awhile ago said Trudeau is only fit to cook fries at McDonalds. How exactly is a university educated person only fit for a minimum wage job?

Your guys and your hyperbole.

Do you actually think that Justin Trudeau is other than a figurehead in the Liberal machine that selected him only because of the Trudeau name and planned every move he made in his election campaign ?? The machinations of the Liberal machine which made anti Harper rhetoric the center of their campaign, the marijuana promises, and the anti Harper feelings across the country enabled those supporting the Trudeau name to secure the votes needed. Suggesting he would have become PM without the name might be a good theory but it is not reality.

When Justin has spoken his own THEORETICAL thoughts he fumbles the ball badly; the Americans should listen, the 25,000 refugees by Christmas, the 383 "guests" taken to Paris at Government expense are examples. He appears to have inherited his mother's theoretical view of the world.

So long as people keep saying that Justin Trudeau is following in his fathers footsteps, or keep claiming that Pierre was terrible, then threads will continue to include Pierre in the conversation and I will continue to question people on those opinions. Sadly no explanation has been given beyond more insults and rhetoric.

Edit: and now it looks like Justin Trudeau's mother is being brought into the conversation.

Oh and Donald, you refer to me as a staunch Liberal supporter, but you forget that not even half a year ago you were talking about how I was an NDP supporter. Not everyone on these forums is hyper partisan.

WADR it is not Justin that is calling the shots but the Liberal machine. Every time Justin speaks his real limited mind he creates problems. I would expect the Liberal machine to continue to try to draw the focus away from Justin due to his obsession with theory and lack of real world knowledge.

Why does this matter? EVERY campaign is full of deliberate and calculated moves. Are you trying to suggest that only the Liberal Party plans their campaigns?

Not at all. It was Omnitio who was attempting to sell the ridiculous idea that Justin Trudeau's real life knowledge ability and intellect were what caused him to be selected by the liberal party and enabled him to become the PM of Canada. Acting school was his biggest asset in being able to follow the play as written.

Pierre Elliot Trudeau must have been a great and wonderful PM if all PM Justin Trudeau needed was his last name to get himself selected and ultimately elected to be our Prime Minister. PM Justin Trudeau's children will have a great chance to do the same. It would be wonderful to see 3 generations of Trudeau in our history books. Great legacy !

Good theory but not reality. The dissatisfaction with PM Harper was notable across the rest of Canada and also played a part in tipping the balance as did the marijuana issue. That the Liberals were able to convince the NDP to help them "Get Harper" was also a factor. Rest assured that Trudeau himself would have had little say in the matter, except to play his role as directed and written.

Your comment would be like saying that a wedding can be carried out as long as the bride shows up. Other factors are also important.

Thus far, I would prefer to be governed by Justin or his father than spend another day with the awful Harper.

In all fairness though, he's clearly intelligent and has a lot of real-world knowledge - unless you want to start claiming that university-educated teachers (with 2 separate degrees in JT's case) aren't worthy of more high-profile positions. He supposedly started studying engineering and geography as well but didn't complete degrees in these subjects.

Can you please explain what you think makes a person intelligent? Clearly you don't think earning university degrees and achieving success in difficult careers is enough.

What would make you think of JT as an intelligent person? A particular degree? Experience in a particular job? Or does someone's views have to perfectly align with yours before you'll grudgingly admit that someone is intelligent and capable enough to handle a job?

Intelligence is when you can tell the difference between poll results that reflect people's confidence in the economy and poll results that reflect satisfaction with a leader's performance. It especially gets tough when not clearly stated (oh wait)

Bingo. Theory vs reality

Bingo. Theory vs reality

More like political spin and blind political loyalty on your part vs honest value judgement on their part.

Back on subject, the OP is right about one poster. I have no idea why either. There might be another one too, but as for all the other ones, they were ripping the Liberals before, and they still are now. For example, Donald G. always rips liberal, religious people, and marijuana advocates. Nothing has changed there.
