Canadian Forces Day Date in the current year: June 5, 2016
Canadian Forces Day Canadian Forces Day is a holiday that celebrates the Canadian Armed Forces, their heritage, and their personnel. It is observed annually on the first Sunday in June. Although it is not a public holiday, it is marked with relevant events and activities across the country.
The Canadian Armed Forces (Forces armées canadiennes), also known as Canadian Forces (les Forces canadiennes), is Canada's unified armed force. It comprises the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and Royal Canadian Air Force. The Canadian Forces is managed by the Armed Forces Council. The CF in its current form was established in 1968 by the Canadian Forces Reorganization Act. Currently, Canada's military has about 199,000 personnel (both active and reserve).

Canadian Armed Forces Day (Journée des forces armées) was established to honor all members of the country's Armed Forces, including active personnel, reserve personnel, and veterans. It is celebrated with official speeches and addresses, solemn ceremonies, and other events. On this day, Canadian citizens have an opportunity to recognize the contribution of CF members to security and peace, express gratitude and appreciation, admire their valor, bravery, dedication, and commitment.
To PC liberals who are offended at the Christ child in a manger, I have GREAT news for you! The next time you see Him, he won't be in a manger! Sadly, if you can't handle His first appearance, you're REALLY not going to like His second appearance.

We in Canada, or at least many of us, don't glorify war and armed forces the way they do in the U.S. However, and so regrettable in this modern day and age, armed force remains a necessity for protection of ourselves and others on any number of fronts. Until mankind everywhere renounces armed force, we will have to play the game or be overwhelmed. And that's why I'm not a left-wing nut bar peacenik.

While most Canadians do not glorify war, most of us believe that those who serve Canadians should be treated fairly and with respect. For over the last decade, those who serve have been treated with disrespect. Whether serving as police, fire figters, emergency service providers or in our armed forces, those injured in those jobs, are simply asked to take their injuries in the line of duty. After all it is just part of the job.

That is completely wrong. While people may choose to take these jobs, they do not choose their injuries. Below is a reference to an Allied WW II veteran, now a Canadian, who is being denied service because of a very narrow and arbitrary reading of the regulations governing veterans services. This narrow reading of the regulations that affects all veterans of our Armed Forces and the RCMP was put in place to reduce costs. Lump sum payments, denial of service, forms and procedures designed to delay and eventually deny service were all put into practice during the last ten years to reduce costs and obligations. It is time to put a halt to those practices.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to those who serve our country and our communities. When they are injured or need care we owe them that too. The current government needs to immediately remove the roadblocks to service for our injured and veterans in need.
