EXCLUSIVE: ATIP docs reveal Trudeau spent $132K on “fancy dinner” for Mexican President

September 27, 2016

You’re used to hearing about Justin Trudeau spending your money in wasteful ways but be prepared to have your socks blown off when I tell you how much of your money he spent on a fancy dinner for Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

The total cost of this very expensive dinner for a bunch of Liberal insiders and onlookers at Casa Loma was $132,904.85.

What does this even mean? An onlooker is someone who isn't a participant. Trudeau's dinner costs somehow included people gawking?

Any opportunity to criticize the Liberals. If the Cons were still in power someone else would find every excuse to discredit them.

Some people just never give up and need to get over it and get on with their lives as it will probably never change.

Certainly not from whining on a forum.

Where do you think the dinner should have been held...Taco Time?

Actually, the meal itself cost 34,380.00 and that was for guests and staff. The break-down is there in the link.

Seems pretty low for a visiting head of state to be honest.

Does the OP recommend we run the president of Mexico through the Wendys Drive thru to take advantage of the low low price of Jr Bacon Cheese burgers?

No need to go to Taco Time!!!

Geesh...couldn't SGT just have whipped something up at the Trudeau home for the Mex Prez?

She did used to "enjoy making her kids their school lunches every day" not all that long ago.

Her paid Staff Chef could have helped her!

Now here's another meal ticket story you can sink your teeth into...

Huffington Post:

Blaine Calkins, Tory MP, Says $1,300 Per Person For Food, Drink On PM's Plane Is 'Outrageous'

"Passengers who accompanied Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on his first two international trips were apparently well fed.

The government has revealed, in response to a written question by the Conservatives, that the cost of food and beverages supplied aboard a government Airbus used for the trips amounted to just over $1,300 per person.

Conservative MP Blaine Calkins calls the price tag "outrageous.''

But a spokesman for National Defence, which is responsible for the government's fleet of air craft, says the total includes the actual cost of catering and delivering multiple meals on each round trip, as well as related costs such as disposable cutlery, napkins, dish washing, airport administrative fees and security charges and local taxes...."

"...The latest disclosure shows that $72,040 was spent on food and beverages for 55 passengers — including almost two dozen journalists — aboard the prime ministerial plane during a trip to Turkey and the Philippines last November for a G20 summit and an APEC leaders' summit.

Another $81,383 was spent on food and drink for 62 passengers — including more than a dozen journalists — aboard the prime minister's plane for a trip later the same month to London, where Trudeau met the Queen, Malta, where he attended a Commonwealth summit, and Paris, where he participated in a United Nations climate change conference...."

Frankly, what ruffles my dander is that ALL Parties are guilty of this kind of drunken spending and it needs to stop -

ALL Parties ALL levels!!

So the joke is that women should be in the kitchen cooking meals instead of undertaking arguably significantly more professional roles? Or are you just saying that she's lazy......because she didn't bother cooking anything? Or are you calling her a liar? Or?

Just making a lighthearted joke is all Red Viking...all in jest...not implying anything about the fact that she is a woman and/or should be in the kitchen cooking and certainly not calling her a liar.
She herself said she enjoyed being a 'stay at home mom' and 'enjoyed making her kids lunches every day'.
Just having fun with the Taco Time and the like comments...

That being said, you have brought up an interesting point...
What 'professional roles' is SGT fulfilling?

He could have used a coupon for a bucket of chicken.

Seriously,,,,,,, what's wrong with a good old fashioned pot luck.

I don't know who all attended but every couple/family could have brought a favorite item to share, or run down to the local deli to grab something. That "entitlement attitude" needs to stop.

A lot of show and dollars for nada short of a few bromance moments for posterity captured in pictures with two lame duck presidents. One's term is ending in November, the other will be short lived and hamstrung by his unpopularity at home.
Hope the meal was good though. Wonder who got the leftovers to take home.

How long would $1300 feed a family of four? Certainly more than one meal for a single member.

Politicians who incessantly tout their own horn about values, justice, transparency, equality, accountability etc. beware. The attention you crave may not always be what you hoped for.
