Should Immigrants have their Citizen Revoked for Lying?

Post by Glacier »

Should Canadian immigrants have their citizen revoked if they or their parents lied on their application when they came to Canada?

Should there be exceptions, like say if the person in question is a government minister?

She came to Canada at the age of 11 and is a serving MP. I don't care what party she's on , she's contributing more than most Canadian born.
Not exactly the picture the righties paint for refugees.

I think we forget that in some cases false statements are made to protect the physical safety of the family. Certainly in this instance, the MP had no idea the information on her citizenship application was not the truth. She has no other country to be safely returned to.
I say we keep her and ship off a few of our Canadian-born frequent offenders!
It's possible to do all the right things and still get a bad result.

The OP provided the link.
Her mother completed the paperwork, not her.
Family were refugees.
Many children do not know the "truth" about their early years. They only know what they are told by their parents.
