Blaney and 'erosion of values'

And here we go again. When are these politicians going to stop wading into the murky waters of values that quickly turn into divisive cultural and racial politics. The focus should be only on compliance with regulations . Anyone moving to another country should understand that there will be instances where they must be prepared to make the occasional compromise when their practices conflict with regulations of their newly adopted country. Too simple maybe but for example:

Canada has safety regulations in this country that require wearing of protective helmets on some jobs and when riding motorcycles. If you want to wear turbans, fine but just sign a waiver that you waive the right to insurance compensation or to sue another party for any head injuries you may incur by not wearing a protective helmut.

Children are not allowed to bring weapons to public school. If you want your child to wear a ceremonial dagger, you have the option of home schooling or setting up your own private school.

Canadians are required to show our face for official pictures in passports, licenses, various other government ID and when we vote. Would anyone else be permitted to attend court, show up for such pictures, or attempt to vote with a ski mask?. Unlikely. There are very good and practical reasons behind those expectations that have nothing to do with discrimination.

There is a point to be made there. Do we change our laws to accommodate newcomers, or should they be ready to adapt to their newly chosen home? It's not like our rule book is secret.

The Conservatives are looking for a home run issue but it's short sighted, you really think Blaney is gonna win an election ?

Nope - he's a step backwards for the party.
