Lets make Alberta great again.

Post by maryjane48 »

As the only producer in Alberta, Aurora's owners are confident in their venture, in the existing market for medical cannabis and in the future legalization of pot. By 2018, they want to become the largest producer of medical marijuana in Canada and, later, the world.

A CBC/Radio-Canada team recently visited the company's 55,000-square-foot production facility in Mountain View County.

with the pot industry in canada quickly becoming number 1 in the world like i knew we would be , the green jobs will start to develop sooner than later .

lets hope notley gives green light to the expansion and put albertans to work

Sure, but the only green will be that of the pot plants. Most of the jobs will be low level paying jobs and the big bucks will be in pocket of producers imuch like tobacco companies. Feds already said they don't expect it to be the huge boom to the economy that some expect.

Growing a weed is not difficult and doesn't require a higher education or accreditation. It's also not a reference that makes for good resume references.
I guess that minimum wages plus perks would about cover remuneration for that position.
Computers allow people to make more mistakes in less time than anything since the invention of tequila and automatic weapons.

Check out pay of jobs in pot industry in States where pot is legal and studies in those states about its role in economy.

There are some well paying executive and marketing type jobs and specialized technicians. But most jobs are around the planting , harvesting, curing, trimming, extraction, processing, packaging and retail and are lower paying less skilled jobs.

Not exactly the kind of green jobs that can offset loss of well paying trade jobs in the energy or some other industries.

MJ, if you think harvesting pot is going to be anything more than a minimum wage job your dreaming. It takes no skills except using scissors

And you think 14 jobs is going to make a difference in the Ontario economy if they even pay a decent salary. I notice they don't show the salaries and don't show the regular worker jobs which will be the high majority. What I see there is the top end jobs and far, far from the majority. The top managers (1%) in McDonalds also make a good buck, doesn't help the line workers.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes their way.

Why would the wages for growing pot be any different than the wages for growing a tomatoe?

the parent company to tweed called canopy is set to be the biggest med weed supplier in world . they are a billion dollar company now .and canadian . and the hemp market by itself will be worth in trllions because of the manufacturing possibilities .

when oil was first found no one knew the possibilities then just like now with weed .as far as regular jobs im willing to bet they will be more than minimum wage because the medical ones atleast will be same as pharmilogical jobs .

Low skill, entry level jobs in every business pay very little, and the weed activists with no real skills still desire that weed will save us all and grant them great vast sums of money for little work, as being stoned off ones butt limits ones motivation and effort, but since it's weed and not a "real business" it will pay massive amounts for little effort......except it won't, well it will to the managers and shareholders, but the real enthusiasts are the buyers, not investors.

Given you're anti GMO stance, how do you feel about Canopy being a GMO Cannabis producer?
