Holistic Medicine-a killer

These people who put their faith in Holistic medicine should wake up and smell the coffee. Hopefully this parent who killed her son is punished severely. Let this be a lesson to the other "NUT" cases out there.

What a tragedy and I can't help but shake my head. My kids got colds, the flu and other illnesses and never were they totally bedridden for 10 days. How can anyone not see the severity until it's too late?
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

Good grief - a child died because they didn't receive ANY MEDICAL ATTENTION. You're totally off base.the truth wrote:http://commonground.ca/2012/01/prescription-drug-deaths/ prescription drugs kill many more

An autopsy revealed the boy had contracted Group A streptococcus infection and pneumonia. The official cause of death was sepsis which brought on multi-organ failure.
Hak said Ryan's heart was infected, he had meningitis and his immune system was exhausted. He could fight no more.

Antibiotics would have saved this child's life.

Re: Holistic Medicine-a killer
I find this topic's headline to be overly dramatic and somewhat misleading.
Holistic Medicine is not a killer. Misguided, single-minded people with no medical training and/or skill are the ones doing the killing.
There are some benefits from holistic medicine, but there are potential dangers. What a lot of people do not realize is that if one is using conventional pharmaceutical medications, that homeopathic/holistic treatments can and will interfere with the effectiveness of the pharmaceuticals --- they often contain the same medicinal ingredients (synthetic vs naturally occurring).
No medical treatment should be administered without the supervision of a trained professional of medicine.
If a grapefruit or big helping of spinach interferes with a person on certain medications, then.... yah... be careful with those alternatives.

I agree the title is a little misleading - the child was in dire circumstances to start with.

It is no concern of mine what anyone old enough to make their own choices does about health care. To not seek professional help for a child is criminal and should be treated as such.

Her friends advised her to take the child to the doctors.

The mother apparently went off her meds.Ryan’s birth was never registered and he didn’t have an Alberta Health card. Lovett said she delivered him with the assistance of an unregistered midwife who was originally from the Netherlands.

Maximum is 5 years I think - not enough. Here's another case that's tragic:
http://calgaryherald.com/news/crime/liv ... meningitis
A judge in southern Alberta has sentenced David Stephan to four months in jail and his wife, Collet, to three months of strict house arrest — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. She will only be allowed to go out for medical appointments and church.
Both will be on probation for two years after they complete their sentences and will have to complete 240 hours of community service by 2018.
