Liberal Failures – 2016 Edition

Post by Gone_Fishin »

The Liberals campaigned on “Real Change” and “Sunny Ways.” Ok, sure.

Just one problem: it's not working!

The Trudeau Liberals are finding out the hard way that running a country is more than delivering platitudes and posing for selfies.

Looking back, ask yourself: have the Liberals actually accomplished anything this year aside from tripling the deficit, introducing Trudeau’s carbon tax, and breaking their election promises?

Fact: their first year has been the least productive in decades.

The previous five Canadian governments passed an average of 48 bills in their first year. Following our Conservative majority win, 58 bills received Royal Assent.

For the Liberals this year, that number sits at just 11.

But what should Canadians expect from a Prime Minister who didn’t bother to show up for work 66% of the time? That’s right, it’s not a typo: he’s managed to attend just 18 of 53 Question Periods this past session.

Instead of being held accountable in the House of Commons, Trudeau spent his time jet-setting around on our dime.

Why?

In a lot of cases, to attend high priced, exclusive, cash-for-access fundraisers.

Attendees include Chinese communist billionaires. One of them made huge donations to the Trudeau Foundation. And another got government approval to open a bank shortly after he spoke with Trudeau. What a coincidence!

Trudeau tells us not to worry. He says the fundraisers, which raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Liberal Party and the Trudeau Foundation, have no sway on the decisions he makes.

The Ethics Commissioner disagrees. She has expressed her "concerns" about the fundraising events, and has asked for a private meeting with Trudeau to discuss the situation.

The Lobbying Commissioner isn't buying it either. She has opened up her own investigation into the matter.

And a third government watchdog has opened up a separate formal investigation! The Federal Privacy Commissioner is looking into concerns following the catastrophic launch of the mydecomcracy.ca survey on electoral reform.

This all adds up to one cold hard fact – Justin Trudeau may be good at taking selfies, but he's terrible at governing.

Ah yes, but half of Harper's bills wound up being unconstitutional. Do they count?

And:

- we have new fighter jets on order
- we have new SAR aircraft on order
- we have new weapons for the Northern Rangers on order
- we have two pipelines approved
- we have one pipeline officially killed
- we have a moratorium on Arctic offshore drilling
- we have brought in many refugees
- we have new copyright laws
- we have a reasonable retirement age of 65 again
- we have assisted dying legislation
- our Coast Guard is being returned to sound footing, and improved (poor old Steve didna' know port from starboard)
- we are returning to a peacekeeper role with the UN
- no more squabbles over silly stuff like niqabs
- many selfies indeed
- an improving economy and jobs picture
- CETA moving along

Quality over quantity...

You're just regurgitating unfulfilled Trudeau promises. But we expect nothing else from the Trudeau fanbois, 'cause they ain't got nothin' else.

Harper had 10 years and bought: 0 fighters, 0 SAR aircraft. But he did close Coast Guard stations and give them rubber dinghies...

And, from a libertarian perspective (I have a streak of that) less mucking about with with more unnecessary laws is better.

You can't push a magic button and make a countries problems disappear but Trudeau is the first prime minister in many years to start making real change, and putting Canada on the world stage again, showing the world what true leadership is about.

Yeah, he really put us on the world stage all-right, and made us a laughingstock. #trudeaueulogies

Based on the tremendous cost and cost overruns of the Lockheed Martin F-35, I have asked Boeing to price-out a comparable F-18 Super Hornet!

- we have new SAR aircraft on order

Hooray!

- we have new weapons for the Northern Rangers on order

You are awesome JT!!

- we have two pipelines approved

Super!!

- we have one pipeline officially killed

Real dumb

- we have a moratorium on Arctic offshore drilling

Way to screw over North West Territories Justin! What a bonehead.

- we have brought in many refugees

which would have happened anyway, but ok, give Justin the credit

- we have new copyright laws

Whoopity doo - I mean yeah Justin!!

- we have a reasonable retirement age of 65 again

Because who cares about money right?

- we have assisted dying legislation

And the only casualty was a bruised NDP boob...er breast (sorry, there are a lot of NDP boobs)

- our Coast Guard is being returned to sound footing,

Is it though? Or is this just babble?

- we are returning to a peacekeeper role with the UN

Are we? And is this a good thing? I realize leftists tell us it is, which makes me think it isn't, because leftists aren't very bright.

- no more squabbles over silly stuff like niqabs

No, and also, no more having to worry about stuff like experience or merit to earn a cabinet post. Just don't have a penis!

- many selfies indeed

At $4,500 a pop - just make your cheque out to "Liberal Party of Canada"

- an improving economy and jobs picture

Is it though? Is it really improving? And if so, does JT get any credit for that? If so, why? What has he done exactly to stimulate our economy, other than attend foreign junkets and bend over for the UN whenever they ask him too? Using our tax money?

- CETA moving along

Yeah JT! So this was all Justin right? This agreement just started being negotiated in 2016, after Justin was elected? No previous government involvement at all, right?

Quality over quantity...

Crap over poop maybe.

Why waste money on cf-18's if we are not going to put them to use.

I think it's neat. He has the far right with their knickers in a knot, and the far left crying in their lattes.

The Castanuttters poll is right about where it should be. You can't make an omelet without cracking a few eggs, and that shows in the polls.

I just love the way selfies drive the right wingers nuts. I mean really? Is that because almost nobody wanted a selfie with stuffy ole Steve?

And how dare he approve a pipeline! The left wingers lattes are getting all salty [icon_lol2.gif]

Steverino had about 9 years, plus a majority in his second term. And he was the messenger boy from Exxon. And how many pipelines did the great leader get approved? Zero. That leftist Trudeau is on the job for a year and, presto! He got two of them approved. And right wingers are all so disapproving.

Oh yeah, Harper did all the work, softening up the whole process, doing all the difficult stuff, leading the country to consensus, steering the approval process, doing all the heavy lifting. Steve was afraid to lead on these issues. Just a guy who wanted to sit in the glow of Ottawa and not do anything more than scare us about niqabs. And build gazebos.

...according to this poll...

Thankfully, the demographics of those taking the castanet poll don't represent the majority of Canada.

Those complaining about the pipelines need to rethink their position. Trucks and trains will continue to transport oil. Pipelines are far more safer. The pressure should be put for better regulations and limitations on the tankers.

The dive team has been refunded and therefore revived. I know Gone Fishin' posted an article about how it had been cut and I actually said "hell froze over somewhere" because I agree it was a moronic move.

But, three weeks later, here it is, revived. So someone is listening for sure.

Was cancelling the program a failure? Sure. But here it is, back again.

After announcing the elimination of the Coast Guard's Vancouver-based dive team three weeks ago, the federal government has changed their minds.

Terry Beech, parliamentary secretary for the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, announced the reversal in Ottawa on Thursday, keeping the 26-member dive team in Vancouver.

When the cuts were announced on May 26, retired Coast Guard commander Fred Moxey called it a “step backwards in conducting search and rescue.”

"I'm grateful to those British Columbians who raised their voices against these short-sighted cuts," said Port Moody-Coquitlam MP Fin Donnelly, NDP critic for the ministry.

The cuts would have reduced costs by $500,000.

"Because this particular capability only ever existed in Vancouver, it was determined that it was not core, and that's why it was reallocated," said Western Region Asst. Comm. Roger Girouard at the time.

This isn't the first time the dive team has been on the chopping block.

Jean Chretien's Liberal government eliminated the dive team in 2001, but reinstated it after several water-related deaths occurred in the area.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?
