Free needles for prisoners?
http://www.castanet.net/edition/news-st ... htm#186213
The Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and other groups are leading a constitutional challenge saying refusal to provide clean drug injection needles to prisoners violates prisoner’s “ Charter of Rights guarantee to life, liberty and security of the person” because prisoners otherwise use various makeshift needles and other contraband items that are unsafe.
Wow.
Prisoners who are addicted already have controlled access to medication to manage their addiction. Will facility next have to provide them with drugs (where are the drugs coming from they would they be using with the clean needles? Illegal contraband too?) How does having a ‘clean needle’ in their actual possession remove danger to themselves or others other patients. Once used the needle is no longer safe and any needle can also be used as a weapon against other inmates or correctional staff.
Why not just give them all guns and other weapons too since according to that logic, prisoners just find a way to get illegal contraband anyway.
Let’s hope that federal response and that of court is one appropriate to this idiotic proposal.

I don't know how the hell these drugs end up in prisons? and why should we be providing tools to help them with drugs that shouldn't even be there.
I'd be more in favor with providing sterilization equipment for tatoos as those tend to happen regardless.

The worse rates of AIDS and other diseases spread by needles are those found in our prisons.
There isn't a drug free prison in Canada and there never will be.
A needle costs a few cents. Paying for a prisoners AIDS medication/treatment a year costs 100K.
You chose.

The true business of people should be to go back to
school and think about whatever it was they were
thinking about before somebody came along and told
them they had to earn a living.

Why not have the Mobile injection site swing by now and again ?
Those syringes are a lot cheaper than treating the diseases that are being spread.
The syringes don't make very good weapons, there are several on the market that will lock themselves into a safe position after use.
When the prisoners get out they will be free to spread those diseases amongst their buddies, and they will have to be treated.

Everything is "harm reduction" these days.
Free injection sites.
Free alcohol for alcoholics who just can't quit drinking.
Free needles for prisoners.
Do prostitutes get free condoms?
I'm all for harm reduction and reducing costs to the ultimate contributer: the tax payers.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

#1 is actually up their butts.
#2 is mail (soaking letters in liquid form drugs)
#3 is civilians (visits, lawyers, programs workers)
#4 is guards
#5 is drop spots for prisoners on escort out of the institutions (medical, compassion, etc...)
#6 is items like reading glasses or rings with secret compartments
#7 is perimeter breaches (over the fence)
I'd state what I think we should do about this "problem" but I'm afraid it'd ruffle too many feathers again. lol
