I really don't understand why he has to apologize anymore than I understand how by this logic, everyone here in the future will be able to say they are native as their ancestors could also be claimed as originally being from here. I never realized that an immigration background has an expiry date on it whence you become native.

You’re right. After all, First Nations people have only been settled on this continent for more than 10,000 years, but they had to come from somewhere before that (the lengths some people will go to convince themselves they’re not bigoted racists).

I definitely live in the past. A lot of people like to cling to a past that they never even knew (mind you, there are economic reasons to do so in some cases).
