Cooking the numbers in Canada like they do in the US. Does anybody still believe these numbers?

When my conservative party was in power I believed the numbers. Now that the Liberals are in power I no longer believe the numbers. As someone that worked in the BC seafood industry I will say that we had both expansion and contractions during the different political parties - the factors that most affected us were our oversea markets and our management abilities. I don't like to give political parties too much credit.

I agree that political parties typically don't deserve a ton of credit, but I also don't think it's fair to judge the accuracy of the reported numbers based on the political party. That itself is partisan and lacks accuracy.

I like to base the numbers on what data was used to determine them. That information is available and it's lazy not to take it into account.

Here's the one and ONLY way to tell if the economy is expanding or contracting. And it's been proven over time:

Interest rates. If they begin to climb, as they are now, the economy is expanding. The prime rate has been slowly creeping up for many months. It remained low during the Harper years as it was a time of stagnation. Steve should only get part of the blame, just as Justin should only get part of the credit now.
