Nothing like being an elected MP to trash Canada abroad.

Jimmy, do you have a link to this situation? :135:
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Not sure but this could be what the OP is talking about.

Omar Khadr payout gains traction in U.S. media after Conservative MP’s op-ed.

Opposition MP Peter Kent and former journalist penned a piece titled, “A Terrorist’s Big Payday, Courtesy of Trudeau” for the Wall Street Journal.

Seems reasonable.

On the up side, it may waken people up once again as to what happened in Gitmo and might make them ask questions as to why Canada has a duty and responsibility towards their citizens.

Might. I said "might."

I think these things should be handled within Canada.
Elected MP's going to the US or whatever to light a fire under the butts of the seething right can only risk having far reaching harm in Canada/US relations during a time the US is preoccupied with Trump & Co.
How is this even correct or legal, Is this why they're elected?

Happens all the time. And yes, it is acceptable.

If a Con or NDP leader did something contrary to say the rights of homosexuals, I'd expect a Liberal leader to get up there and tell the world we aren't all bigots and homophobes and Canadians don't all hate gays. That'd be the good thing and smart thing (for a political party) to do.

In this instance, she's doing what is smart for her party. Most Canadians ARE mad about this. She's currying favor with her group and letting America know we don't all want to bend over for terrorists. Let's face it. A lot of Americans get their news from Fox and if they're flashing all over their screen that Canadians apologize and give millions of $$ to terrorists, that's bad for relations.

You can either let them do it and say nothing (bad), go on there and try to explain it from a leftist view (won't work on Fox viewers) or go on there and say it was a big mistake and try to save face.

maybe if we didn't have a complete airhead for a PM who makes idiotic decisions to cater to a minority of backward thinking leftists, there would be nothing to trash.

Uneducated right wingers in Canada are under the mistaken belief that everything about the USA is better than Canada. So if they hear criticism of something Canadian on the US media, they fall for it. The reality is the USA has fallen so far behind the rest of the world in so many areas and are becoming a third-world nation with inferior education, no health care, minuscule care for the aged and poor. Like a banana republic where the 1% at the top own everything.

I can agree with this. Eight years of Obama as leader would destroy even the best countries.

You sure come up with some ridiculous accusations and insults.

I haven't seen or heard anyone say that the USA is a beacon of anything anymore, other than greed. What are Canadians "falling for" in this scenario? I think the vast majority of ALL Canadians know that the Americans are currently pretty terrible at almost everything except war and making money.
