Canada tops G7outlook
"The International Monetary Fund has raised its estimate for Canada's economic growth rate for this year and 2018, putting it at or near the top of the heap among advanced economies.
The Washington-based IMF is now estimating Canada's gross domestic product for 2017 will be 3.0 per cent — half a percentage point higher than its July estimate.
That would put Canada ahead of all the other Group of Seven countries, with the United States coming second at 2.2 per cent growth from last year."
The IMF's world economic outlook is similar to estimates issued last month by the Paris-based OECD, which also said Canada would top the G7 countries this year.
The International Monetary Fund says Canada's pickup in growth reflects reduced drag from lower oil and gas prices with assistance from government spending and central bank policies.
It expects next year's Canadian year-over-year growth rate will slow to 2.1 per cent in 2018, but that's still 0.2 per cent above the IMF's July update and second-highest among the G7 behind the United States at 2.3 per cent.
The IMF also raised its estimate for world economic growth this year by one-tenth of a point to 3.6 per cent."

Awesome! Good job Trudeau

Doesn’t look like many care.
Posters here seem only interested in Canada failing under Trudeau. They don’t want to give attention to any sort of positive news.

Facts that don't jive with political partisanship are almost always ignored.
The economic policies of the Liberal government are indeed working. But what happens is that once people can find a decent job, with decent prospects, then "the economy" drops off their radar as complacency sets in.
That said, it looks as if Trump is going to put a stick in the spokes. So not much of a real reason to celebrate yet.
I was reading Harper's comments about NAFTA, and his assessment seems to be that NAFTA is a dead man walking. Even if by some miracle Chrystia and crew can negotiate something reasonable in the way of new NAFTA, it won't pass the Republican congress.
I would like to be able to celebrate better and more diverse economic policy by the Liberals, but it looks like hurricane Trump may blow it all away.
Populism and the spoils of ignorance...

Funny that jobs and the economy are such a focus leading up to an election but instead of focusing on these issues after the election we get consumed by petty things such as selfies, hair and misquotes by whomever is in power.
