Uncover Faces in Quebec
https://www.castanet.net/news/Canada/20 ... -in-Quebec
I would think if you are employed at a court house or a Government controlled daycare, I don’t see why a person shouldn’t show their face so you know who is under the clothing. Anyone can steal identification and put on a burka and niqab and do nasty things to little children or bring a weapon into a court house. It could be a perfect disguise.

The law is talking about using any kind of government service including riding a bus.
And if “I should be able to see your face” is a reason why people should have to remove burkas when riding the bus, then so should people be told they need to remove hats, sunglasses, medical masks, thick scarves etc.

Wow, all kinds of uses while wearing the burka and niqab.
I personally don't have an issue with this bill. Might just prevent a suicide bomber sometime. Hope I'm wrong, but.....

Seewood, i actually hope you are right! It just might prevent a suicide bomber sometime.
We are living in a very unsafe world now, in Canada, and should do whatever is necessary to prevent the horrors we see on a regular basis elsewhere. We are now "home" to people who have brought their wars with them and haven't stopped fighting them.
It is amazing that should we be in THEIR country of origin we would have to fall into line, such as dressing to their code. Here, anything goes, including apparel meant to screen faces from onlookers and recognition cameras?
By all means, much as I dislike the idea of invasion of privacy, we must do this to protect ourselves.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

I don't have a problem with it. Quebecers are serious about protecting their culture. Good on em. There are lots of countries in the world that have rules. You want to go there, you behave or dress in a certain way. That's it. If you can't abide by their rules, you aren't welcome there.

Iran is the only country that legally requires all women to wear head covering. Using the "tit-for-tat" argument puts us in company that I don't think we want to be associated with.
Who wants to be told what or what not to wear?
And the worst part of it is that it just feeds into the fear that we are fed by the media ... fear separates us, it never helps

Excellent law. Should be Canada wide. Hopefully BC adopts it too.

I'm not sure if I could point out a suicide bomber from their face. Should ban Ponchos
It's probably too broad but overall a good law.

might be un-Canadian but that's irrelevant. This is Quebec, not Canada.

It's a stupid law, but it's also stupid that women who are adherents to a specific religion have to completely cover themselves in public, under fear of physical reprisal and ostracism. Lots of stupidity to go around here. I still don't see how the squishy warm feeling in their tummy liberals justify this burka thing in Western society. It seems to go against one of their core tenets about womens' rights (or maybe not, their core tenets seem to shift depending on how the wind is blowing that day).
But I'll let them worry about that one. I realize they don't get bothered by this kind of hypocrisy, and it seems they achieve this by just not thinking too much. That being said, you can bet that if Christians suddenly demanded that all women be covered head to toe in public, that the same people screaming about how unfair this law is would be marching in the streets and screaming about how we need a law in place to "protect" women from the horrible Christian faith. It is just really baffling why the religion of the person matters when it comes to women's rights.
