The year 2017 will be one of the hottest years ever

The UN’s weather and climate agency says 2017 is set to become the hottest year on record aside from those impacted by the El Nino phenomenon.

The World Meteorological Organization says this year is already on track to be one of the three hottest years of all time, after 2015 and 2016, which were both affected by a powerful El Nino effect, which can contribute to higher temperatures.

Last year set a record for the Earth’s average global temperature.

The warning was timed for Monday’s start of the latest UN climate change conference, hosted this year by Bonn, Germany. Some 25,000 scientists, envoys, lobbyists and environmental activists have descended on the city for two week of trying to figure out how to turn the goals of the 2015 Paris climate change accord into reality.

Invite the UN shysters to visit Kelowna right now.

Don't forget to add the last line of that link:
It has also been marked by lower-than-average coverage areas for Arctic sea ice.

Is there any statistics or evidence to substantiate that claim?

^^^Arctic sea ice extent for October 2017 averaged 6.71 million square kilometers (2.60 million square miles), the fifth lowest in the 1979 to 2017 satellite record. This was 1.64 million square kilometers (633,000 square miles) below the 1981 to 2010 average and 820,000 square kilometers (317,000 square miles) above the record low October extent recorded in 2012. By the end of October, extent remained below average throughout most of the Arctic except within the Laptev Sea, which is fully ice covered.

Reminder, as with the last few years also reported to be the hottest, these are global averages.

Climate does not equal weather. So just before there are any “smart” comments about the current temperature in some parts of BC (caused by a well understood meteorological phenomenon).

I will make a prediction that 2018 will beat out 2017 too, as the trend continues

Sure, it's cold in the Okanagan right now. But does that mean that it's cold everywhere? Of course not. Climate change is real. It's happening right now. One thing about WMO scientists, and the Environment Canada ones too, is that they all have in common their loyalty to the science. Not a loyalty to BigOil or anything else.

Actually they are all loyal to whoever hands out their grants.

Grants go out either way, regardless of their findings. Their job is to study the science and present it.

The reality of the grants themselves though, is that they are measly. Barely enough to fund the studies themselves. A lot of scientists end up funding a lot of their own expenses related to their research.

Nobody goes into science expecting to strike it rich. They are instead intellectually rewarding careers that better our understanding of the universe, for all people.

Just like when it's hot here, does that mean that it's hot everywhere? Of course not.

Climate change is real. It's happening right now.

The climate is always changing. What you don't seem to understand is that there is "man-made climate change", the unproven hypothesis, and regular climate change. Nobody has proven that the climate isn't changing naturally, or that mankind has any effect on this. No one. Anywhere.

Not a loyalty to BigOil or anything else.

I don't know what BigOil is, but this sounds like a made up name by conspiracy theorists looking to push a disgusting communist agenda. What else is new.

Yea it has been proven and 99.99999percent the populations accepts it.humans are affecting our climate. It isnt a debate unless you believe sean hannity but he defends pedophiles so watch who you align with :smt045

99.9999 percent of what you wrote above is pure BS. Just outright lying.

Speaking of the man-made climate change myth, just six weeks to go until the North Pole is "ice free" and New York is under water. At least, that's what "climate prophet" James "death trains" Hansen said was going to happen. So let's all get our swim trunks on!!!

NASA : Arctic Ice Free And Manhattan Underwater – In Six Weeks!
Posted on November 13, 2017 by tonyheller

NASA’s top climate expert, James Hansen, predicted that by 2018 the Arctic would be ice-free, and Lower Manhattan would be underwater. Democrats call him a “climate prophet.” Only six weeks left to go!

Okie dokie so we have a bet going that 2018 will be hotter than 2017? Not necessarily the hottest year, but hotter than 2017? Ok, I'll take on that bet and say that with La Nina coming, and, we are heading towards a solar minimum, 2018 will be slightly cooler than 2017.

The loser of the bet gets a virtual spanking in this forum. Sound good? lol

This is a suckers bet. No matter what happens, or how cold it gets, or how big the ice pack grows on both poles, I guarantee you that the powers that be that control these measurements will doctor whatever data they need to to ensure that we are told that every year is hotter than the last, so it's already pre-ordained that 2018 will be hotter than 2017. It's a fore-gone conclusion. The fear-mongering must continue, and the masses scared stiff, to keep those wallets open and the gravy train of government cash flowing. That being said, I do have some hope of a reversal of this rigged game given how Trump has been reigning in the unchecked power of the EPA that Obama and his minions gave them, and also pulled the US out of the idiotic Paris Accords.

We can hope that somehow the junk science and the lies supporting the AGW hoax will start to be reversed, but don't hold your breath.

La Niña was 2016-2017...
You’re on.

La Nina conditions will likely persist into 2018, but it is unlikely we will have such a strong el nino as 2015 which was biggest on record. GB, you may be right as well... ya never know how data and proxies will be used, manipulated to pre-ordain an outcome. I think I'll take this shot though. Cross your fingers ;-)

So come 2019, when-ever the outcome is known, we shall reconvene :-)
