The lesson from your link is the harper govt took advantage by allowingvthe huge loan with no.plan . It wasnt solar power as,it states in the link .it was the lsck of a plan and being forced to make huge payments back to govt

Much as I disliked Harper, it's an oversimplification to blame the entire debacle on him alone. There were many contributors to this mess, not just one.

I would say this is a tale of how governments at any level and even the BCUC should be very careful how they get involved in projects that they know little about. Even North Shore power was too small and did not have the expertise to look after such a project. It sounds like the snake oil salesmen and their cronies pulled the wool over their eyes and ran with pretty well everything before they even realized it. These type of things need to be run by people experienced in the business with the acumen in every aspect not just finances or whatever. You have to know and understand the whole picture and obviously no one here did." If it looks too good to be true it usually is".

Yup, the "green energy" snake oil hucksters got 'em good.

It started as a subsidy mining scheme, and when the subsidy went from $.80/kWh to $.64/kWh and then down from there (what lunatic politician dreamed up THAT scheme??) and the power company said "you're nuts", it all fell apart. Then the other so called "green energy" hucksters moved in and stole the rest.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is. Most of the "green energy" pitched is just snake oil.
