A man has been arrested by Quebec City police for allegedly making hateful comments about Muslims online.

Nicolas Thériault, 46, was arrested Friday and appeared in court Saturday to face charges of inciting hate and uttering threats.

Quebec City police (SPVQ) said they were informed about the comments, which appeared on a social media site, by the RCMP.

"In that message, there were incitements of hatred against the Muslim community," SPVQ spokesperson Mélissa Cliche told CBC News.

An investigation allowed them to identify a suspect.

So having police monitor social media is a good thing? I'm confused as often you say that police are bad?

This might be a good thing. Should end up as a challenge of the muslim love laws passed earlier in the year. Those laws limited free speech.

If it ends up putting a threatening whacko in jail in the mean time. That is also seen as a good thing.
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

If he posted threats, then good, that's illegal and no one should ever feel unsafe. If he was simply posting his views and did hate muslims there is nothing criminal about that and he should not be arrested for just stating his opinion.

We're letting in ISIS fighters with no jail time and forgiving them for their actions but this guy will serve two years for his words. :200:
