The government of Ontario has published the name and logo of its LCBO-run store for legal cannabis, and it is truly boring.

It will be called the “Ontario Cannabis Store”, and will have physical shops alongside an online operation ran through Shopify.

But what is most interesting is just how much the government paid to have these incredibly dull designs made.

According to CTV News, it was over $650,000.

From what I gather between the actual designs and their rhetoric they believed in simplicity to protect children.

Why could they not have gone one step further and tried to protect the taxpayer as well when paying for such simple work!

The work looks so darn simple a design intern on Canva or photoshop could have made it in hours if not in minutes.

So why did the province pay so darn much? More importantly, did they even have a truly transparent bidding process when the costs are so exceedingly high?

One tiny little bitty question Gone_Fishin, how did you work "Justin" in to this equation? I read the article and didn't see anything that said the Federal Government had to sign off on a Provincial Logo. Are you ummm, er, by chance just hoping he did?

Read here that it's for branding and marketing. So it wasn't just the logo that cost 650g's, that also pays for the billboards, newspaper adds, coupon brochures and whatever.

There is huge liberal fatigue in Ontario right now. But only time will tell if that translates into a swing in the NDP or conservative camp.

Lots of "ANYONE BUT FORD" camper out there.
