Congratulations on being a part of the right fake news machine. The exemption has been in place since at least 2004. Nothing to do with Trudeau, and nothing to do with muslims (apparently it was put in place for hutterites/amish/etc?). To use the exemption you can neither have a drivers license, nor a passport.

Interesting how in this other thread about restrictions people are bashing Trudeau for suggesting that licenses should need to be verified, and people are stating “but they already need to show a license!” Yet in this thread people are now saying the opposite? And blaming Trudeau?

Exactly. It's the same story every time, ask an left liberal a question, it goes 'round and 'round, and it never gets answered. Here's the question: why isn't Trudeau demanding that Muslims have to identify themselves in order to purchase firearms?

They do identify themselves....you don't need a picture to show proof of identity. A firearms license with no photo ID still has age, sex, height, name and birth date, it still has all the necessary criteria to prove ones identity. I do wonder if gun shops ask for a 2nd piece of ID upon receiving a photo-less ID.

Not any or all of those will prove anyone's identity. Face and fingerprint will. A Muslima will get away with the face/fingerprint part because showing an infidel any skin could result in a beating. In other words, a full burka and wearing gloves will get him/her all the weapons they want and all the ammunition they can pay for. As far as I know, they don't even have to have photo ID like a Driver's license. Try searching your name and get shocked.

But in 2007, the Harper government convinced Canadian courts that this risk had been ruled out in Boily's case. Rob Nicholson, who was then justice minister, obtained diplomatic assurances from the Mexican government that it would respect Boily's rights.

Radio-Canada contacted the former Conservative ministers who were responsible for Boily's case in 2007, former justice minister Rob Nicholson and former foreign affairs Minister Peter MacKay. We asked them to respond to Boily's accusations that they failed in their duty to protect him. They did not respond to emails.

The Trudeau government repatriated Boily in June 2017 so he could serve the rest of his sentence in Canada. He was transferred to the Regional Reception Centre, a maximum-security institution in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Que. He was released on parole on Dec. 12, 2017.
