NAFTA milking nerves

Post by bob57 »

Living in the heart of the dairy industry here in the Okanagan and hearing the threats coming from the American leader regarding NAFTA and dairy, is amusing on many fronts. American politics is a Soap Opera that the people cannot seem to get enough of. The president elect in an effort to come across as the "savior" of the downtrodden American public, stepped out on a limb and promised the moon to all lobby groups in an effort to "get the vote". The state of Wisconsin was a swing state for votes going to the Republicans. The state is also in "Dairy Heartland" . The party picked an issue that it could use to persuade the voting public to vote for them instead of the Democrats. That issue of course is the Canadian tariffs on American dairy products.
We hear the rhetoric in the speeches given of how bad Canada is. Elaborated words to convince the American public that Canada is not playing fair in its charging 275% on American dairy imports. One can play around with the truth. It can even be said that truth is what one wants to hear or see. In this issue there is just the one truth. The truth that voters don't hear or see due to political suppression. That truth is that dairy farmers( mainly from Wisconsin) could accept a form of supply management much like Canada has at present. The idea has been made a proposition as far back as 2014. The Republicans under John Boehner at the time vetoed the bill. The farmers know Canada's supply management works. There have been cross border meetings over the years to find out how it works here in Canada and what the outcome would be in their country. The larger companies like Dairy Farmers of America, Shreiber Foods, and even Wal-mart who have their own dairy farms, pay big proceeds to politicians to keep a supply management out of America. As a result the truth issue results in an "over supply" situation which the smaller family farms cannot withstand. The NAFTA issue is an issue because it is a vote getting one. California is the largest dairy producing state. Wisconsin is next. California is Democrat. Wisconsin is not, but could be. That, is the truth about the dairy issue facing Canada.

Wisconsin found a loophole and took advantage of it.
Filtered something or other.
The loophole got closed.
They have no place for their excess hormone laced milk.
The corporate dairy scum send their lawyers and criers to Washington to cry on Trump's sleeve.
He sees votes, and couldn't give a crap about any farmers, just the corporations. Ones that donate no doubt.
What a bunch of BS.
I will avoid their syrup like the plague.

There's the solution right?

Let them bring their milk up here.
No one buy it.

In my defense, that was Tillamook cheese, not just any old cheese. AND before Trump starting yammering about the ruination of Canada.

That sums it up. Picture is worth a thousand words. Just read where Mulroney recommends JT capitulate on the issue. If he does it means another nail in his coffin.Quebec and Ontario dairy farmers will do the hammering.

What a plan.
Split the right so numb nuts is a shoe in for a second term.
Kill off Canadian dairy so the true milk mafia, US conglomerates with their massive steroid farms, can take over our milk supply.

what is this ding-bat doing appearing on some stupid panel while she is supposed to be negotiating NAFTA? This whole video is just disgusting communist propaganda. Hang your head in shame Chrystia.
