Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer says his party welcomes Muslims and he's glad they’re part of Canadian society.

“My message is that the Conservative Party is an inclusive party, that welcomes the contributions of people of the Muslim faith, and I’m glad that they make up our cultural fabric,” said Scheer, in response to questions from National Observer at an Ottawa press conference.

“The Conservative Party, myself, and Members of Parliament, whenever hateful acts are committed against any group, we denounce those.”

Those don't sound like the words of a "white supremacist" to me.

Hollow words are part of Scheer's shtick.

Why has Scheer been so tepid in his actions? Actions speak louder than words. Scheer continues to enable the darkest corners of our society.

I have never said that Scheer IS a white supremacist, but he certainly is a white supremacist enabler. https://pressprogress.ca/conservative-leader-andrew-scheer-defends-heckler-affiliated-with-far-right-anti-immigrant-groups/

"Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer Defends Heckler Affiliated With Far-Right Anti-Immigrant Groups"

That is Scheer giving oxygen to the likes of the Storm Alliance. THAT is enabling the far-right neo-fascists. Scheer could have just said nothing, but no - Scheer jumps in reaffirming the neo-fascists as legitimate.

That is just one example of many where Scheer has given oxygen and legitimacy to the neo-fascists. I mentioned Scheer legitimizing Faith Goldy before.

It may be that Scheer is jsut doing his "position by calculus" nonsense of pandering for votes - but Scheer gives plenty of evidence of at least leaning toward these far right scowns - not the least of which is hiring Rebel cofounder Hamish Marshall as his right hand man and national campaign manager.

Actions speak louder than words. Scheer did less than the absolute minimum in the Michael Cooper fiasco. Scheer uses alt-rght code language and demagogues asylum seekers. Scheer appears at a rally with known neo-fascist Faith Goldy. Scheer gives interviews and content to the Rebel. Scheer even gives content to Faith Goldy's neo-fascist web presence. Scheer refuses to vote for the anti-Islamophobia resolution.

Contrast that ongoing set of Scheer inactions and actions with what the Ontario Conservatives response to the anti-Islamophobia motion was:

"In response to the M-103 debate, Ontario Liberal MPP Nathalie Des Rosiers introduced a similar motion in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario that called for the condemnation of Islamophobia.[21] Des Rosiers' motion was supported by both the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario and Ontario New Democratic Party,[22] and was passed with a unanimous vote"

The only conclusion is that Scheer is an enabler of the far right neo-facists...and possibly is worse than that with his Trumpian transactional approach... which may indicate something else going on with Scheer's constant association with and enabling of the far right dark corners of Canadian society.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Partisan or not, objectionable facts shouldn’t be dismissed as rubbish. Despite his efforts to hide his past views, his current actions continue to speak for themselves despite his carefully crafted messages ahead of election.

Andrew Scheer is his ‘own person’ — but who, exactly, is he?

Over six million Canadians tuned into the Raptors game on June 10. That game seems like a nightmare now, as it ended in one point heartbreak for the Raptors. Nevertheless, the pan Canadian audience was bonded by hope and tense with expectation. National unity does not get better than this.

No one, except for the most politically discerning, expected to see political attack ads. It was somewhat jarring to see a bobble head figure of Andrew Scheer suddenly emerge on the screen with a voice-over that intoned, “Andrew Scheer will never stand up to Doug Ford” especially regarding Ford’s cuts to heath care, education and support for families challenged by autism. Similar attack ads continued throughout the week, aimed at Justin Trudeau.

Unlike Americans, Canadians have not traditionally been favourable to attacks ads. They can backfire if used insensitively. In 1993, the Progressive Conservative ad mocking Jean Chretien’s face ignited strong support for the Liberal Party. Used wisely, however, ads can intuitively highlight any perceived character flaw.

The Engage Canada ads accomplished two points. They were timed for a maximum number of viewers and they contributed to speculation about Andrew Scheer. After two years as opposition leader and four years as the youngest speaker of the House of Commons, his political personality remains quiet. Unfortunately for him, at least two Conservative premiers, Doug Ford and Jason Kenney, are noisy.

The Ontario premier has baggage already. He has unsurprisingly proven to be a political disaster. Voter’s remorse has set in. His polls are plummeting. Anonymous Conservatives are leaking their concerns to reporters and his caucus seems to be in a meltdown.

He and his team clearly did not learn a lesson from the Mike Harris government. When cuts hurt too deeply, people will scream in pain, especially when those cuts are aimed at the most vulnerable.

Scheer must find a way to distance himself from Ford while simultaneously retaining Ford Nation support. In a somewhat defensive move, Andrew Scheer gave an interview to this paper emphasizing that he is his “own person, with his own style and his own approach.” It was an odd statement because leaders rarely feel compelled to insist they are their own person. Ford Nation must have been slightly perplexed.

Meanwhile, Jason Kenney is a strategic lightning rod. Formerly a federal Conservative minister under Stephen Harper, the premier of Alberta is also causing trouble. Unlike Ford, Kenney and Scheer seemed joined at the hip on policies. However, speculation is mounting that Kenney is the federal “leader in waiting” which has to be slightly awkward for the two of them.
Scheer will also have to carefully monitor the Alberta premier’s actions. Kenney, Ford and four other premiers recently joined forces in an “urgent” letter to challenge Trudeau on two recent pieces of environmental legislation. They warned of a “unity crisis” if they did not get their way.

If there is any threat that makes Liberal hearts beat faster, it is a threat to “national unity.” The prime minister realized quickly the political gift. He immediately countered with an allegation that the premiers were being irresponsible to suggest a national unity crisis.

Trudeau made it clear that he will speak for Canada and for all Canadians, raising the question of what Andrew Scheer would do in a national unity crisis. Would he be a strong national leader or would he always be in the grip of one premier or another?

And Scheer has one more identity crisis. When he ran for the Conservative leadership, narrowly beating Maxime Bernier, who subsequently left to form his own party, Scheer did not argue when he was favourably compared to former prime minister Stephen Harper.

Is Harper lurking behind Andrew Scheer? Is Scheer also being led by Jason Kenney? And what will Scheer do with Doug Ford? Scheer has to fight for his political life, not only with Trudeau, but with his own partisans. Whether Scheer has the courage and the guts to stand up to the Conservative warlords around him is a genuine question for the fall election.

The ad hit the mark. Who are you, Mr. Scheer?

LOL. This writer either watched far too many daytime dramas, or missed their calling. Too funny. Totally put me in mind of the narrator at the end of Soap episodes.

Wow! What a nothing plan. This is what Dimples told us to anxiously wait for? I guess this is what he hatched up secretly with the oil companies and their special interest groups......what a joke of a plan.

Andrew Scheer's climate plan leaves a lot to voters' imaginations
Is it a target without a plan, or a plan without a target?

Andrew Scheer’s plan looks similar to the platform released recently by a major Canadian oil and gas lobby group.

Those of us who follow the Charisma Matrix channel on YouTube know that politicians make decisions that look stupid and irrational to the voters, but in actual fact are the best way to do the least amount of damage.

Take Scheer's latest climate policy announcement. Now, any of us who actually think without hyper-partisan glasses on know that Scheer cares less about climate change than Trudeau does (and the same goes for most Canadians). But he cannot be honest and simply state, "I have no climate action plan" because the media and those who do care about climate change will become unglued, making Scheer look like he doesn't care about the environment. This is a very bad situation to be in.

Option two is to out flank Trudeau on climate change. Not only would this be almost impossible to do, it would cause vast numbers of Bay Street types and Albertans especially to consider the PPC or even the Liberals. This is also a terrible scenario for the Conservatives.

That gives him no choice but to pretend to have a plan. Even though no one by a few "yes men" actually believe he has a plan, making up a good story no one actually believes causes the least amount of damage possible.

Yeah too bad for him he didn't come up with this plan in Oct. as now the shiny 60 page document will get hammered by all the parties until the election. He doesn't have to pretend he doesn't care at all about the environment or a plan as it's all laid out for anyone to see. He should have just done a Ford.........say nothing before the election to pin him on anything.

Like I've wrote before, Scheer and JT are each others' best weapon. It will be a race to see which one bumbles their way backwards to the finish line.

Why are you so hard on Jagmeet? What was wrong with his plan, whatever plan you are talking about?

LOL - the paid DI's here are so freaking predictable. The mother ship gives you two scripts:

Script 1:
Why won't Scheer put out a climate plan? Why is he so chicken? The LIBERALS have a a plan (it sucks and hurts poor people, and was drafted by imbeciles, but they have a plan!!!) Does Scheer not BELIEVE in the man-made climate change myth???

Script 2:
Oh man, what a crappy plan!!! (we haven't read it and don't have the intelligence to understand it, but it doesn't matter, it sucks!!)

as now the shiny 60 page document will get hammered by all the parties until the election.

But that's ok, because the other parties are all run by idiots. Or drunken idiots in the case of the Green Party.

He doesn't have to pretend he doesn't care at all about the environment

There's caring about the environment, and there's pandering to moronic boneheads who want to tax everyone into oblivion because of fear-mongering fairy tales. The idiot LIEberals should figure out where they want to be, as everyone else has figured it out.

Like I've wrote before, Scheer and JT are each others' best weapon. It will be a race to see which one bumbles their way backwards to the finish line.
