Japan isn't settling down at all.

According to this http://quakes.globalincidentmap.com/

There has been a pile of 4's and a 6 in the last 14 hours . . . they just can't catch a break. :(
There has been an increase in small (tiny) quakes on our side too.
I haven't failed until I quit.

They just had another 7.0 a few minutes ago.
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/ ... es_all.php

interesting the number of 7 to 7.9 earthquakes /yr. is up 90% in the last 10 years and up 60% since 1900 in 2010, with 17
so far in 2011 we have had 11 mag 7 to 7.9 .
Seems to be a trend higher.

are we on an "up" cycle then? I wonder how far it will go before it starts to settle down. Anyone have any data on this?

Here is an interesting graph, looks at though we are coming out of a quiet time, but it also looks like we are getting more 8-9 magnitude earthquakes.

Thanks for the link Katfish
No conspiracy, there is a lot of chatter on the internet about this, I have pretty much ignored it but maybe I should take another look.

If this thing really is 25,000 miles across that puts it's diameter at over 3 times that of the earth, which would probably have some gravitational / tectonic effects.
On October 16th 2011 it will be at it's closest to Earth .234 AU or about 35 million kilometers from Earth.
I would keep an eye on your elected officials if they start going into hiding.

Been there done that!
Fact is no one know for sure the size of this thing, there are no pictures, and considering that NASA has made many mathatical errors in the past I wouldn't put it out reach that this thing coming is or could be a bigger threat than they know.

That IS a very interesting graph! So we've been spoiled with a quiet time, and things are just getting back to "normal" I guess. :137:

I suppose you could say "normal" but I wouldn't since 3 of the largest earthquakes in history have been in just the last 10 years.

Kelowna
6.7 quake felt in Okanagan
by Wayne Moore - Story: 64449
Sep 9, 2011 / 1:02 pm

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake hit Vancouver Island during the lunch hour Friday with enough force to be felt in the Okanagan.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake hit 138 km west-southwest of Campbell River.

It hit at a depth of 25.9 km.

Castanet has heard from a number of people in the downtown Kelowna area stating they felt the quake.

"My co-workers and myself were working in one of the Lankmark buildings when the quake hit," says Jeremy Burgess in an e-mail sent to Castanet.

"I noticed myself swaying back and forth and thought that it was odd. I then noticed my blinds were swaying in time and the building was creaking. Before the tremor stopped I confirmed with a few co-workers that they also felt the quake. It was an odd sensation to say the least, a little like floating in low ocean waves."

Eric Stansfield lives on the 7th floor of the Centuria building at the corner of Bernard and Gordon.

"The whole building was shaking for several seconds," says Stansfield.

"Our lights were swaying. When it stopped, we got out."

A resident of the Sunset Waterfront also felt it.

"I could literally feel and see the building swaying."

There have been no reports of significant damage.

I haven't failed until I quit.
